wtnhunt
Re: How much do you pay for.. Paid $275 for my daughters shoulder mount last year, and that is from probably one of the best taxidermist in this area. There is someone else around here who charges $200, but I have not seen his work.

Rhino
Re: How much do you pay for.. It's about $480 from my taxidermist for a shoulder mount now. I could get it done a lot cheaper but the quality of the taxidermist I use is far better than some I've seen from some other taxidermist around here. This is definately one of those things where you get what you pay for.

WaCoyote
Re: How much do you pay for.. Totally depends on where you live, if they're in demand, if they have a reputation, etc. etc. etc. Lots of variables. Where I live they start at about $450.00 and they go way up from there. Most folks really don't notice the difference but if you know what to look for the differences can be enormous. I had one done about 10 years ago for around $450.00. I thought it was an awesome job but as I started really paying attention to other work I noticed mine was really not that good. I'm happy with it, but it wouldn't win any awards. Go to the shops in your area and look at their mounts. They always have tons of them laying around to look at and usually they really like to talk about their work. Some times they even have catalogs of all of their work that they've done that you can look at.
