noobi
this is my first year for hunting on public land. one of the rules is your not allowed to screw any type of tree steps into trees or use anything else that penetrates into the tree. now my question is, what do you use to hang your bow or do you just hold onto it during your hunt. i've been using my realtree ez hanger up til this season atleast when i'm on public land. whitetailkiller
Re: public land hunters, i have a question [ QUOTE ] i lay my bow right across my lap [/ QUOTE ] if i get to the stand a few hours early i will use my stand mounted bow holder....if i just make it in time to climb up and settle in,, i'll lay it on my lap...and that's not even on public land , i don't want to get busted reaching for my bow when i could have right next to me or on my lap!!!!! good luck! elkoholic
Re: public land hunters, i have a question If I remember right there is actually a clamp/cinch-on type of bow holder. It would not be that hard to make one of your own. Personally, I use a tree stand mounted version, although most of the time I keep the bow in my lap. GWSmith
Re: public land hunters, i have a question I've talked to a Forest Ranger here in New York while hunting. I asked him if it was OK to use a screw-in bow hanger, I showed it to him(pic below), and he said "As long as you Dont leave it in the tree I've got No Problem with it. Absolutely No Screw-In tree steps though...alot of people end up leaving those in the tree" Best policy is talk to the people in charge or eliminate the concern and go with one of these:
