Their hang-on stands feature a seatbelt type attachment strap and that is it. It is MORE rock solid than typical pointed and ratchet strap stands. The rounded corners probably help to keep the bark on also. Just a guess, but mine has (had - it got stolen last week) pointed ends and the tree I used the most last year got stripped of all the bark.
