Doe in Heat ??

Alright heres the situation...

This morning at 8:30 I saw 15 deer, mostly bucks with 3-5 being BIG - standing around a bunch of horseweeds in the middle of a picked cornfield. There is at least one doe in heat down there because as of sundown tonight there is still at least 5 of them still in the same spot. I'm guessing that she is tired of running and is bedded down with one of the big guys. I just found out that I can hunt the riverbed that runs into that field so in the morning I'll be about 100-150 yards away from where they are.

My question is this, I always here about the lockdown phase where the big boys are basically bedded down with a doe and not moving. If this is the situation here, how long will they stay locked down in this area? The ONLY cover over there is the horseweed patch and the riverbottom that runs from that property onto the one that I can hunt. Other than that it is picked corn and soybeans for a long, looonnnggg way.

All in all I guess it doesn't matter because I will be there come morning and hopefully can get one of them to come my way (will have a decoy out grin.gif)

Well they are still there...

Heres a pic of one of them that's not letting the doe leave...

Then I had another doe head out of the creek bottom and out into the horseweed patch, she is followed by this guy...

I left there at 11:30 to grab a bite and pick Sue up, will be heading back out shortly. Did see 2 other bucks, 1 doe and 4 coyotes
