Check this bad boy out. I took these yesterday at about noon. I was on my way home from church and had just pulled on to my road. There is a grown up field about 3/8 of a mile from my house. When I drove by I see this big buck standing about ten yards from the road with two of our neighbors dogs standing with it. I don't know what breed of dogs they are, but they are pretty big. I stop and watch for a little while. It looked like these dogs had this buck cornered and he was breathing really hard. The dogs were barking at it and lunging towards him. The deer would lower its antlers and charge back at them. This went on for a few minutes. So I go on home and get my camera and go back. They are still there at about 10 yards. They don't pay any attention to me. I wish I had permission to hunt that field because I would have taken my bow back and had a chip shot at him. By this time, one of the dogs had given up and went back home, but the male dog wasn't giving up. The deer and the dog went at each other several times. I finally whistled trying to distract the dog so the buck could run off. The buck looked up at me and blew and ran about 10 yards. The dog went right after it so the buck stopped and jabbed it with his horns again. They must have been going at it for a while. The dog was bleeding pretty bad from its back. You can see the dog in the second picture. I keep whisteling at the dog and he finally starts coming to me. I distracted it long enough for the buck to take off. I sat there and watched all of this for about 20 minutes. It was pretty ccol. I wish I would have picked up my video camera at the house. That would have been some good video.

Re: Check out this dude (w/ pics)

These are usually good dogs. They are very firendly and are usually pinned up. They let them out every once in a while. Usually when they do, they stay in their yard. So I don't know if they ventured off this time or if this deer just happened to be passing by and they spotted it.

I am with you guys about dogs bothering deer, but in this case I think it was just a fluke.
