BowtechTurkeyHunter
Re: 10yd or less shots I heard about this from the double bull boys ... I thought it was a great tip and I use it ... 10 yards or less I use my 30 yard pin ... especially out of a blind on turkey ... it really makes a huge difference ... try it Jason it really does work .... GWSmith
Re: 10yd or less shots For anyone thats interested...there is software out that allows you to graph the arrows trajectory from your bow/arrow combination: TAP - The Archery Program Here is the trajectory, taking into account All the specific Information from My Bow/Arrow combination, again proving what I said earlier in my posts! This program has my arrow speed calculated out to be 285.3fps and my last chrono was 284fps. Using my 20 yard pin: At 8.571yds the arrow intersects the line of sight and again at 20yds. For those who need to see it in a Picture: Let me make it simpler...and the same picture measured and cropped to 5yds:
Guest lobsterman
Re: 10yd or less shots i have shot 1 deer 10 yards or less, (about 7 yards) i used my 20 yard pin, and put it right on, treestand was only 12 feet high... GWSmith
Re: 10yd or less shots Not knowing your Bow/Arrow Specifics it sounds like your arrow hit right where it needed to be...during the upward rise of its trajectory(on it's way to 20yds)
Turkeygirl
Re: 10yd or less shots Never heard of that. I always shot deer 10 yards or less with my pin set at 10 yards:-)
Straight Shooter
Re: 10yd or less shots I hear ya turkeygirl and that's fine and dandy. LOL GW, I'm sorry for not getting back to this topic earlier, but work and homework with the kids, delivering cubscouts popcorn got me tied up for a little bit. I don't doubt you know what you talking about, and DANBO it would look better on paper to an engineer, I know I work with them everyday and ya'll's motto is, if it's done on paper it must be truth. GW, The only thing I'm stating is that a faster bow will have less trajectory than a slower bow, I know gravity is a constant, and the world turns fast. LOL The original question was were should I aim at 10 yards and bottom line is it all depends on how fast of a bow this guy is shooting. I don't want to ruffle any feather except "engineers".
