Guest sheald
I know this is a Realtree site, and everyone on here is "pro" wadell, jordan, blanton, etc, etc, etc. Im not saying they are not good hunters. But, they get to hunt in the best spots. I am from Maine, where the whitetail hunting success is approx 6 to 8% a year. Id like to see the boys from Realtree come to Maine and consistantly shoot the 150 class buck!!!! Sure those guys have shot some nice deer, but do you really think its because they are the best hunters? I think not..I am not slamming on the Realtree boys, because I like everyone of them, but geez, give me a break. I went to the milk river last nov..If anyone on here could not shoot a 140 class deer, then they should not be hunting. I saw over 150 deer a day. Some years in Maine, you dont see 10 deer a year. The first nite on stand in Montana, I saw 73 deer!!!..Again no slamming intended, but if you got outfitters falling all over you and begging you to hunt your land, then what do you expect? Just my two cents.
Guest Finn
Re: To be honest Its kinda sickening!!! I guess, welcome to Realtree. I don't think these guys try pass themselves off as the best hunters in the world. Actually, Waddell says how extremely fortunate and grateful he feels to be where he's at. Doesn't the whole Realtree bunch seem pretty humble to you?
superguide
Re: To be honest Its kinda sickening!!! Well I live in a high deer numbers area too-and there are guys who've never shot a 140 clas deer in their life so high numbers of big bucks doesn't always garantee success-it helps but it's not a chip shot by any means. HoosierDaddy28
Re: To be honest Its kinda sickening!!! They have a tv show, and products to sell. Who is going to buy Realtree products if they watch a show of Bill Jordan sitting in a tree looking at squirrels? I can't complain about where they get to hunt because if I could afford to I would hunt there too.
bigmoss
Re: To be honest Its kinda sickening!!! They have never claimed to be the best, they have gotten to the stage in their successful business that they are invited to some great deer areas. Great for them and great PR for the outfitters. Who in their mind would turn down an offer like that. It was also said they have a DVD to produce having those big kills on video sells them and people including me love to watch. People in Maine who might not get to go to the Milk River or other places might not even see a deer of those caliber were it not for the videos. Sounds RT might not be the place for you. tp793
Re: To be honest Its kinda sickening!!! So if you got the chance to go back and shoot a 150 inch deer are you saying you wouldn't do it? I know that if I was one of them I would go where the deer were, not where the succes rate is 6-8%. I've never heard one of them say that they were the best hunters and have always admired how humble they were and the great reports everyone gives after meeting them. Not a very good idea to post something like that.
Guest bbarnett51
Re: To be honest Its kinda sickening!!! I don't believe a single person believes that the realtree guys can kill deer where there aren't any. They will be the first to tell you that they kill big deer because they hunt where big deer roam. This is not hard to figure out. I don't know what you are even trying to say with your post. Maybe you should start your own videos and film yourself watching nothing....I think it would be a huge hit
3whunt
Re: To be honest Its kinda sickening!!! I hear your complaints. And as you can tell we are all "pro" realtree. not because we think they are that much better then any of us at hunting, but because they are good people. I mean come on, Michael is shaving his head for cancer. They always represent the sport of hunting with dignity, morals, and character. I think that people here admire Realtree for these reasons and not because they are great hunters (see Whitetails of North America for evidence). All hunters benefit by having them represent our sporting heritage. Welcome to the forums. I hope that you learn to love it.
Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: To be honest Its kinda sickening!!! Sheald, I think you're 100% correct in your assessment of the hunting opportunities that the RT Prostaffers enjoy, but I don't understand why that is sickening??? Heck, I enjoy watching those hunts from far off places and maybe some day I'll even use those as a planning tool for my hunt of a lifetime! SaskBucks
Re: To be honest Its kinda sickening!!! I agree with Swamp and Finn. The RT prostaff never claims to be anything but fortunate to hunt in great areas with great outfitters and great guides. Jim Shockey once told me the difference between him and anyone else is that he has the luxury to put in so much time into hunting.
johnf
Re: To be honest Its kinda sickening!!! Iv'e seen all those guys miss a lot more deer than I have. Does that make me a better hunter? They got where they are because of honest hard work, a love for hunting, their personalities, and probibly a lot of luck. You can't fault a guy for making a living doing what he loves.

TreeWalker
Re: To be honest Its kinda sickening!!! This is one of the wackiest topics I have ever read.....if I had the means to hunt the best locations in the world, by goodness, I'd be doing it........ Not only the Realtree gang, but many others, like Primos, etc...are great spokesmen and stewards of the sport....... Don't let jealously or envy rule your thoughts.....we all live in areas where we have great opportunities, but also lack others.....I would love to be able to hunt Elk and Moose, etc...but I live in a State (ND) that has only a once-in-a-lifetime-tag available....which is virtually impossible to draw......so I'm left to dream about it........I'd love to be shooting monsters like Iowa, Illinois, Ohio and Kansas hold.....among other states, but alas, I will stick with the deer we have......... But someday I hope to put myself in the position to hunt out of stae more.......so don't be hating on the guys that get to do it for a living, or can afford to......especially when they of all people, realize how fortunate and blessed they are.......... buckee
Re: To be honest Its kinda sickening!!! First off...welcome to the Realtree forums. secondly: [ QUOTE ] Sure those guys have shot some nice deer, but do you really think its because they are the best hunters? I think not [/ QUOTE ] I've never heard Bill, Mike, David or anyone of Team Realtree, claim to be the best hunters around. They are in the business of PROmoting hunting to the masses, via TV and Video. Thus the name Pro-staffer. They are Professionals at what they do, because a professional is someone who earns their living doing something, whether it be a trade or hunting. I hope that straightens things out for ya

Team Realtree
Re: To be honest Its kinda sickening!!! Known and worked with all those guys for over 10 years and never heard one say they were better than anyone. And don't think for a second that they don't appreciate how fortunate they are to hunt where they do. That being said, if they are hunting public land every week and paying for the equipment, time, personel, etc., what kind of TV shows and videos would we be producing? And who's going to buy them? elkoholic
Re: To be honest Its kinda sickening!!! Kinda sickening. You're darned right! Given the opportunity, would most of us take advantage of those great hunting spots. You're darned right! The Realtree crew worked hard to get where they are, and if that's where they want to be, good for them. I am sure there is also a down side to what they do. Enjoy your time outdoors, because that's what it is really all about.
