Guest Nickell
Re: To be honest Its kinda sickening!!! [ QUOTE ] I guess, welcome to Realtree. I don't think these guys try pass themselves off as the best hunters in the world. Actually, Waddell says how extremely fortunate and grateful he feels to be where he's at. Doesn't the whole Realtree bunch seem pretty humble to you? [/ QUOTE ] It's called QDM thats all it takes, some persistance and some property and you could be taking 150 class deer all day. spikekiller
Re: To be honest Its kinda sickening!!! I read once that somebody told one of the Benoit brothers the same thing....if you hunted where i hunt you wouldnt kill a big buck...blah...blah ...blah and he told the guy no offense but if there were no big bucks in the area then he wouldnt waste his time hunting there. If I am not mistaken the Benoit's are from Maine(ok Vermont) same difference...and they seem to kill their share of big bucks.

Guest sheald
Re: To be honest Its kinda sickening!!! Nope,,,I used to hunt the same area up around Sebomak Lake in Northern Maine, and seen those guys several times over the years...then they just stopped coming and I was told by a buddy warden of mine, that they were asked not to come back to Maine, due to violations. They are just trying to make some money I guess. I know for a fact they never shot big deer without snow being on the ground..At least not in Maine and the 5-6 years I hunted up there when they were there. Basically all they do is ride around in that big suburban the back roads and look in the snow for a big buck crossing. And track it. They first bragged about being great shots (which they are) but never used scopes..just those carbine pump 270's with peep sites..Well the last video, one was in a stand with a scope on his rifle. Guest Hunter36
Re: To be honest Its kinda sickening!!! It's true you can't shoot big buck where there are none, and products don't get sold by guys shooting does and small bucks. I agree partly with the fact that if I could hunt all these place all fall i could shoot big deer to. but i also disagree that these people pass themselves off as the best hunters. Alot of them got where they are by hard work and dedication. And i believe thats what really matters in the hunting world. If i put in alot of hard work in scouting deer and shoot a fork horn or doe I'm happy with that. I've also been on guided hunts and shot deer where i've been put in a place that i've never been before and been just as happy with the outcome. The main fact is that these guys get paid to try equipment and show it to the public, and the can't do that by hunting one place all year long and seeing a few deer. they need to test the equipment alot. As far as skill and ease of the hunt. alot of these pros dont state that the hunts they are on are hard hunts and the fact is they still have to make the shot on that deer no matter how easy it is to get close to them. nhbowhunter
Re: To be honest Its kinda sickening!!! If we stick to the facts about who, why, and/or why not we would all be a lot better off. First, a state game department just doesn't ask someone not to come back. In order to keep the Benoit's from hunting, ME would have to have charged them with a game offense and take away their right to hunt in that state. If they were charged it would have been BIG news in the hunting community. Oh btw they were hunting in ME in 2005, 2004, 2003 so I guess they weren't "asked" to leave perminantly. Second, the 2005 Maine season they tagged 2 great bucks in ME and they were on bare ground. Third, "brag" about not using scopes? They have always written and spoke about preferring not to use them in the past but now 3 of them readily admit to using scopes (seems age takes a toll on the eyes). Sheald, you seem to be pointing an "all knowing finger" of opinion and judgement, first at the Real Tree guys, now the Benoits. So far you are all about trying to tear people down with hearsay. You strike me as the guy in a hunting camp that likes to put other people's success down... Do you have anything positive to say or contribute? tclubbs2
Re: To be honest Its kinda sickening!!! I think everyone is missing the point. Sheald I understand what you are saying. But, I think you need to look at the big picture. The reason everyone here talks or treats these guys like they are hunting gods is because they are down to earth guys like the rest of us. They also get to do things that the majority of us don't have the money or time to do. That is hunt the best places for the biggest deer. They may not be the best at what they do but make no mistake about it, they are professionals. Anyone here would trade places with them in a heartbeat and I think that includes you. The bottom line is they get paid to do what we all love to do and that is hunt. Who cares if they shoot the biggest bucks. I know I have seen a few shows where Waddell shoots a doe. Who cares where they hunt as long as they continue to bring us the quality programs that have been doing over the years.

dlriggins
Re: To be honest Its kinda sickening!!! Here is a question Would you purchase or even watch a video that shows the RT guys sitting in a tree for three or more days and at the end the closing comment is WELL WE SPENT A LOT OF MONEY AND THREE DAYS HUNTING HERE AT WHEREVER WE ARE OUTFITTERS IN SOME STATE AND ALL WE SAW WERE THREE SQUIRRELS AND A LOT OF BIRDS of course not but I am sure that it has happened it just doesnt sell big bucks sell and that is what makes a good video. These guys hunt all season and only produce 1 or 2 videos a year Im sure they eat the humble pie just like the rest of us
