Second deer for the freezer

I got my second one for the year Saturday.

First one was 3 weeks ago. I took a 13 year old kid hunting who'd never been before. When the deer walked out at 150 yards, the kid was hanging out of the stand rearranging the burlap. Fortunately, the deer never looked our direction, but walked directly away. I have pics of this deer at 40 yards, but I'd let him walk before. From the rear, though, he looked bigger than he was, so when he turned at 170 yards to walk into the woods, I shot him left-handed. First one I've killed from the wrong side of the rifle.

Second one came out on me tonight. I was set up on a natural funnel leading to a field. He came out at 90 yards, walking directly across the road. I put the scope on him, saw three nice big points n one side, and shot him thinking he was an 8 point. Turns out he is missing one brow tine and the second tine on the opposite side, so he was only a 6. Weighed 155, though, which is pretty decent around here.

Both were shot with 168 SMK's over 45.5 gr. H380, LC brass, and WLR primers. Not a great load according to the books, but shoot great, and have same point of impact at 300 as my standard Varget load in my rifle.
