Guest firelt
I would like to find out if anyone has any problems with the GrimReeper Broadheads. I shot a doe the other night and only one blade opened up and the other two stayed closed. Am i doing something wrong or should i try a different mechanical broadhead. Could someone please help me with this. By the way after some tracking i recovered the doe.
BowtechTurkeyHunter
Re: Broadheads Thats just the inerrant problem with mechanical broadheads ... I wouldn't think it is Grim reaper but all broadheads ... angle has a lot to do with the blades opening ... speed ... distance ... all of these play a variable in all 3 blades opening ... VermontHunter
Re: Broadheads I haven't had that problen with the Grim Reapers I used,,, all 3 blades deployed and did thier job and killed a nice buck this year.... I thought for a mechanical head the Reapers did an outstanding job.....

PAstringking
Re: Broadheads I shot my biggest deer to date quartering away at 25 yards with a mechanical broadhead. it opened up and all three blade made a perfect entry and exit wound through his heart. i love to do a lot of field hunting where the wind can be a problem. i have both mechanical and fixed blade and use one or the other depending on the situation. Guest Illinois1958
Re: Broadheads I shot a buck years ago with a practice muzzy (accident). The arrow only penetrated 16 inches. Double lung shot, he didnt go 30 yards It's all about shot placement.
Guest forsythe04
Re: Broadheads i have used both mechanical (miniblasters) and fixed blade (muzzys). i had problems on a couple occasions where my blades, brand new out of the box mind you, did not open on a deer. You cant have confidence really after that. Muzzys have fantastic results, just need to tune them a hair
Guest Smity
Re: Broadheads How did just one blade open? don't they have rubber bands on them? Alot of people think that the blades dont open but when it hits something and stops a little the blades shoot forward and look like there closed... Alof of people have contacted these companies saying there not opening.. but infact they are. When you shoot a deer and hit a bone or another part of the body its going to shoot the blades forward... do you know what i mean? there a some that do have problems but majority dont. bghunter777
Re: Broadheads the force of the arrow coming to an ubrupt stop. can somtimes close the blades this is mistaken for blades not deploying often. check the exit hole if there was one this is a better measurnment of whether the blades deployed. not saying it could never happen. but I have never even had a mech come close to failing. I am a fan of the rubber bands rather then the locking blades. such as the Rocket line.
Guest firelt
Re: Broadheads thanks for the feed back. A guy that i work with turned me onto grim reapers, and gave me a few pointers and what to watch out for. This is my first time using mechanical blades, so i guess i will stick with them and see what happens. Like you all my biggest concern would be wounding a deer and not being able to find it.
