WaCoyote
Rkymtn's post has caused me to rethink my anti foxpro opinion with his post on the callers so I have been doing quite a bit of research. I think I may actually order one pretty quickly to use in the upcoming contests this season. But I'm on the fence. In the past I have never been able to justify the expense of these units but I am changing my opinion quickly. The FX5 is just too much right now and the difference between the FX3 and the 416b leads me to believe that the fx3 is a better value. Soooo..... to people in the "know" mainly our ever faithfull moderator jcwa I have questions. How loud is the FX3 compared to a js preymaster2? Do I need to pay to change sounds? Can you give me a basic rundown on how you operate this caller? changing sounds, can you play two or more sounds at once? Whats the battery life? Does it work in extremely cold weather? Is it true that I can upgrade to an fx5 for the difference in price at a later date? Sell me, this is your chance. I posted the same questions on another site but I'm pretty much getting "It's great" type answers I geuss I want specifics. Thanks in advance. jcwa
Re: reconsidering anti foxpro opinion [ QUOTE ] How loud is the FX3 compared to a js preymaster2? [/ QUOTE ] I would compare the volume of both to be about close to the same using the horn speaker, but the FOXPRO is clearer sounding at higher volume. But the FOXPRO FX3 has dual speakers, 1 horn speaker for high pitch sounds and 1 cone speaker for lower tones. Plus a jack for a 3rd external speaker if you wish. Both speakers have an on/off switch. [ QUOTE ] Do I need to pay to change sounds? [/ QUOTE ] The FX3 comes with 32 sounds that you pick. Extra FOXPRO sounds would cost $20 for 16 sounds. But your not limited to just FOXPRO sounds. The unit will play .wav MP3 and FOXPRO's FXP sounds. You can change the sounds around the way you want them on the unit from you computer via a USB cable. [ QUOTE ] Can you give me a basic rundown on how you operate this caller? changing sounds, can you play two or more sounds at once? [/ QUOTE ] The unit is as easy to use as the Preymaster. Pick which sound you want by it's number and press send. You have a numbered call list on the back of the remote. It has a mute button to mute the sound. The AUX button is for turning on/off your decoy FOXPRO's jack-in-the-box has a cable that plugs into the caller and the decoy. No you can not play 2 sounds at once like the Preymaster. But you can have 2 sounds mixed into one sound. [ QUOTE ] Whats the battery life? [/ QUOTE ] It is terrible using alkaline batteries (4 to 6 hours) But rechargeable batteries will last a normal calling day. The unit takes 8 AA batteries but you can use an external 12 volt gel cell battery sold by FOXPRO. [ QUOTE ] Does it work in extremely cold weather? [/ QUOTE ] It doesn't get that cold here, but I have been told it work great. [ QUOTE ] Is it true that I can upgrade to an fx5 for the difference in price at a later date? [/ QUOTE ] Yes
