wtnhunt
I just dont get it. My sister in law and her husband stopped by last night. Got to talking with her husband about hunting and got onto the subject of his former employer. My wife used to work with his former employers wife and my wife told me a few years back that this woman would brag about her husband whacking so many deer, shooting everything he sees and went on to say how he would lose some and end up all over back here with his sons behind my house on property he had no permission to even be on. Well, I knew he shot a lot and knew that the wife said according to the guys wife that he lost a lot of deer each year, but now I find out that he wounds more deer than I ever could have imagined . My sister in laws husband said he shoots at least 10-15 deer each year right back here and he always finds blood, but only usually will find 2 or 3 of the deer he shoots . Dont think my sister in laws husband has any reason to exagerate, but even if he is exagerating slightly, the guys own wife has also boasted about the number of deer he shoots right back here behind our house to my wife and admitted that he loses some every year. My sister in laws husband also went on to say that this guy shoots 3-4 times at every deer because he shakes so bad, he cannot ever hit them the first time . That goes right along with what I have said about hearing this idiot back here every year firing several shots. Why on earth does someone who obviously cannot shoot continue like this, I just dont get it? WHY am I the lucky one who has to deal with such an idiot right behind my property? Guess this helps explain in part why the yotes are so bad around here

wtnhunt
Re: ARRRRRRGGGGHHH-WHY? Yeah, the warden is married to my 10 year old daughters science teacher, and I know his home number and his cell number both. The warden has been out to the house before, and he is a really nice guy, but he has his hands full with the entire county by himself. While the guy shooting back here in my opinion has no business in the woods, there is no law here that says it is illegal to wound deer and not find them, and dont know that there would be any way to prove anything. Unfortunately if he trespasses on the land around me I cannot do anything there either unless I physically catch him on my land.
buckee
Re: ARRRRRRGGGGHHH-WHY? We have a law here, that you must make all reasonable effort to retrieve your game. But that is, like you said, a hard thing to prove. Sad situation you're in for sure.
wtnhunt
Re: ARRRRRRGGGGHHH-WHY? Yep Steve, if you remember, you and I talked about this same situation a pretty good while back when I suspected it. I had no idea it was as bad as it really is though, and was going on what this woman was telling the wife. Now with what my sister in laws husband has said, that might kind of explain part of the reason for the dwindling deer numbers and rise in number of coyotes in this area. VTbowman
Re: ARRRRRRGGGGHHH-WHY? Dont feel alone bro. Your not the only one who has to deal with non-ethical shooting by neighbors. I talked with a guy the other day who hunts property behind and beside mine. He was telling me about running/bounding bow shots, 5 hour tracking and jumping the deer all morning long. Made me sick. Certain its was not his first of such hunts...
Stinger-Hunter
Re: ARRRRRRGGGGHHH-WHY? This suggestion is unlike me to make, but maybe you should go to the guy's house and go target shooting with him. At least try to teach him how to shoot. Maybe you can say "your wife said you get deer fever, I have some tricks that may help you" I hate to suggest this cause I'm not that type of person, but that seems like your only chance at getting the guy to stop shooting like a moron everytime. woodsman2230
Re: ARRRRRRGGGGHHH-WHY? I would bring the game warden into this....maybe they could keep him off your property and put an end to that crap!!! I am angry about this too because the people that hunt behind my house do the same thing. Not to that extent I hope but still I know how you feel. I hope you get this problem resolved. Good Luck. [ QUOTE ] Maybe you can say "your wife said you get deer fever, I have some tricks that may help you" [/ QUOTE ] Problem is he shakes supposedly due to chemical exposure from his occupation. Honestly dont think I could help him, and afraid I could not keep my cool if I went to talkt to him in the first place.

mrswtnhunt
Re: ARRRRRRGGGGHHH-WHY? Hey guys, just came back from the stand. it is opening day of rifle season here. Heard about 30 shots from all around me, at least 10 were within a 1/2mile radius. Heard 4 shots back to back from the same person, I could tell it was the same person because it came from the exact same place and sounded like that person had enough time to chamber another round between shots. THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING!!! About an hour later I heard 2 more shots come from the same area. Felt like I was in a war zone. Every time I heard a shot my heart sank deeper and deeper. Don't have much hope for this season. Only saw 1 doe this morning. If there are any deer left in the area they will probably be bedded down for awhile,or just go nocturnal due to the commotion. I plan on going back out in an hour or so. Maybe I will get lucky.
sskybnd
Re: ARRRRRRGGGGHHH-WHY? maybe you should tell him if he shoots one and cant find it to ask for your help, i dont know how many deer you can kill, but if it helped him find the ones he shot surely he get his limit to where he'd have to stop hunting for the yr, instead of shooting more and losing them. wtnhunt
Re: ARRRRRRGGGGHHH-WHY? Limit is 3 bucks per year, and that is a good idea, but somehow got a feeling he may also be tag sharing which is illegal in this state. The guy has either 2 or 3 sons, who help him look according to what his wife told my wife. Think I might give the warden a call and talk with him and explain the situation and see if he has any ideas.
