Guest Herd_Bull
This might sound stupid, but is there a big difference between a .300 win mag. and a .300 WSM....like does the short mag. shoot as good as the normal one when it comes to far distances? Strut10
Re: .300 WSM...?? Welcome to the forums!! I do not own a .300 WSM. I do own 2 .300 Win Mags and load for two more. From what I can tell........... all the "major" differences between the two rounds are on paper and quite insignificant in sporter-weight rifles. AJ
Re: .300 WSM...?? Like Strut said, they are fairly close ballistically with the light to medium weight bullets. When you get to the heavier bullets (180+ gr), the older, longer cartridge starts to pull away due to extra volume. Just remember, a magnum won't magically make you a good shot at 300+ yards. If you can't do it with a smaller cartridge, you can't do it with a magnum.
