Re: HELP!!!!!!!

First of all welcome to the site! laugh.gif

It's a hard question to answer. You've got people using just about every possible shotgun out there for both turkeys and deer.

In my opinion if you're going to use it for both get one of the shotgun combos with two barrels. One barrel with screw in chokes and another with a fully rifled barrel if you're plan on shooting slugs for deer.

Other than that you'll need to decide whether you want a pump, auto, single or double barrel gun. Most turkey hunters shoot a pump or auto. As far as brands go try a bunch of them out. Find one that fits you well. There are several quality manufacturers out there to choose from. It's really about fit and personal preference.

Most hunters use a 12 gauge for turkeys. But there are lots of folks using 20 & 10 gauge as well. Most folks shoot guns that handle up to 3" shells. But the 3 1/2" guns are getting more popular. There are also several that shoot guns that'll handle on 2 3/4" shells. They'll all kill turkeys and deer.

Guess what I'm saying is there is no simple answer. Just go out and try some out. Find one that fits you well and that you like.

Good Luck!

Re: HELP!!!!!!!

If I were going to pick one shotgun to hunt both turkey and deer, I would consider an autoloader very seriously. Turkey and deer loads are at the upper end of the recoil spectrum. Firing either one from a fixed-breech gun (pump, double, single) is usually not much fun. And you will need to do a bit of "bench work" or "sighting in" with both. An auto makes this all somewhat more bearable. wink.gif

Re: HELP!!!!!!!

After using 2 different friends guns to bag my first 2 longbeards , I was sold on the mossberg 835 turkey slayer...it folded the first one up like a cheap umbrella at 50 yards...very reasonably priced too at $298.00...fiber optic sights...mossy -oak camo...I love mine. You can get the rifled barrel to complete the combo.
