popgun
In September of 2005 I posted this photo of a Maple Tree in my back yard that I wanted cut down. I asked everyone to estimate the height of the tree, and got at least 25 different measurements, along with formulas on how they reached their estimate. Today the tree came down But….Now I don’t know who was the closest to the actual height of the tree. It measured 62’4”. If you can prove that you were the one who posted the nearest measurement…You Win. Too bad all the replies have been deleted. ….popgun

Tominator
Re: Too Bad the Old Post Are Gone: I gave you a formula for estimating tree size. I don't recall giving you an exact number though Jeff. I took out all my silver maples last year. Messy messy tree.

lil hunter
Re: Too Bad the Old Post Are Gone: I just went back and looked at the original post(thanks buckeemeister) It looks like you provided us with incorrect information. The hypotneuse in you're original measurement, is shorter than the height of the tree.lol Thats impossible. therefore, I win.
popgun
Re: Too Bad the Old Post Are Gone: Thanks to buckee, a panel of impartial judges has declared a winner. Ruff- figured it at 43’ dg- 31’ anonymous- guessed at 26-27’ then changed to 26.2’ and then again to 31’ billygoat- 53’ Harv Dog- 31.2’ Bond-31.15’ browning gold12- guessed 42.75’ buckee-said at least 40’+ wtnhunt-31’ Andrea- 26.15’ billygoat wins with his estimate of 53’ and his comment “ricks, a rack, a nick, knack, paddy wack, throw popgun a bone!!!” buckee was close with his very vague “at least 40’+” answer. (This answer made it very close to a tie) And then Ruff at 43’. And the winner gets…..a rick of Maple (uncured/green) firewood. The winner must pick up their prize; as delivery is simply out of the question. If the prize is not picked up within 48 hours, a sign that reads, “Free Firewood” will be placed on the stack, and it may not be available when claimed. If the winner does not claim his prize, any of the other contestants may pick it up. For a definition of how much firewood is in a “rick” please refer to this link. http://www.realtree.com/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/737869/an/0/page/203#Post737869 The decision of the judges is final. ....popgun

Tominator
Long lost POST! This is what happens when a guy leaves the forum for a while! Aperfectly wonderful bottle of Maple syrup could have been mine! Nope. Silver maples aren't the best for syrup. Black or preferably sugar maples are used for syrup.
