saterday morning me and my 10 year old had a chance to get out for about 3 hours,first stand was no luck, by the time we stopped at our second stand the sun was just up and the wind was gettign up,I decided to call a big slough were the coyotes would have to circle in view to get downwind, we called for about 15 minutes when my daughter spotted a deer trotting behind us,he was coming to the call, I nearly crapped, it was a huge whitetail, I figure boonie for sure,he stopped at about 150 yards and as I turned to look at the slough a coyotes was on the hill 300 yards away, seeing it was windy I decided to bring him in closer[try cool.gif] I got on my call and did a few small squalls and in he came,he went in a valley and told my daughter to get ready he will crest a knoll trying to get downwind,within seconds he was looking at us from 45 yards away,number one,this is the the one I made my slave drag back to the truck lol!! [i wish just made a cool pic to show mom lol] as we were heading to our next stand I spotted a coyote about 500 yards mousing in a field,instead of stopping and glassing I drove 5 miles to get around so the wind was right, darn no place to park out of the view exept a rockpile,I parked on the side of the rockpile that just hid the truck, we went to the far side of the pile about 10 yards from the truck and decided it was worth a try, the coyote had to come from just one spot or we would be busted but why not try,before I was done with 20 seconds of calling we both seen a coyote crest a knoll 500 yards away then a second,they came in down the low spot like they were on a leash lol,I look at my daughter and through her mask I could see her eyes as big as a plate, I decided at 30 yards I bettertake number one and a second after the shot I grabbed the howler and a few wounded coyote yips number 2 stopped at 75 yards and that was 3 coyotes in less than 90 minutes! next stand was 2 miles from home and I did not expect much with all the traffic guys spotting deer but we had 1/2 hour to spend and decided to give it a try,within 5 minutes had one sitting to my right pretty near downwind, the daughter spotted him and tapped me sayign coyote dad,he was about 75 yards sitting and we had 4 coyotes within 3 hours! great morning! this brings my total over 25 for the fall[3 weeks or so]starting off the season great! they are calling for a cold spell thsi weekend and I have most of next week off work for deer huntign but I always find the time to make a few calls a day while out hunting to help pay the gas,can not wait!!here are a few pics of a new coyote hunter HPIM0651.JPG
