WABS
I have a good friend that inherited a Winchester Model 1886 in 45-70. The problem is it's been packed in grease and buried for a number of years/decades. The rifle is suffering from some rust on the barrel -- any suggestions on how to proceed to clean it up without damaging the gun? Or would you just recommend taking it to a gunsmith? AJ
Re: Rust Removal? Hey, someone read one of my suggestions in the past. If the rust light and not deep, bronze wool will remove the corrosion without hurting the surface underneath. If the rust is deep and pitted the surface it may need professional help. Also depending on where the rust is and how bad it is, it may have weakened the gun enough to make it unsafe to fire. I recommend having it checked out by a professional as any work done to the gun may seriously hurt its value.

If your going to learn anything might as well learn from someone who knows what thier talking about.
