buckbuster11
A friend and I were just having a conversation about the best hockey players and where they come from. In general what country do you think produces the best hockey talent? With all due respect to my man Sidney Crosby, I'm thinking it's pretty hard to argue against Russia right now. What say you? muggs
Re: A little hockey talk When it comes to pure offensive talent, its gotta be Russian players. Look at Malkin and Olvechkin (spelling??).

superguide
Re: A little hockey talk The Russian Select AllStars are getting the wood put to them by the CHL AllStars on their tour this fall. I had one of my midget kids score a goal last night would of been on every sports highlight reel. He fed the point then dropve the net and reached around him and tipped about a 90 mile an hour slapshot out of midair. He's not only Canadian he's an original Canadian. PAbowhunter4life
Re: A little hockey talk If you're talking who HAS produced the greatest of all time, you'd have to go with Canada, I mean, come on..... Lemieux, Gretzky, Roy, that's enough right there However, if you are asking who IS producing the most talented players right now, it has ot be Russia.... Malkin, Olvechkin, Afinaginov. Again, enough said
superguide
Re: A little hockey talk Crosby,Spezza, the three Stall's,Phaneuf,Briere,Thornton,CheeChoo,Iginla,st. Louis,Le Cavalier-do you need another ten or more or is this ENOUGH SAID!!!!!!! Like I said Russia's best young players are getting whipped on their tour right now just like most year's at the World Junior Topurnament. Takes more than the odd flash in the pan to be a hockey nation that's why there's only one CANADA-always has been -always will be.

superguide
Re: A little hockey talk Wait till you read the paper after the reffing we got this weekend-the Midget Stamps might be needing a new coach lol. It wasn't pretty-it's sad when the visiting coach feells guilty about the reffing going so bad his way. Wish some former Stamps would take up the whistle-hint,hint-at least you could skate good enough to keep up.

pa_sportsman
Re: A little hockey talk I believe that the best all around hockey talent comes from Canada. Although a number of Russian forwards are great on offense, many of them are liabilities in their own zone. Case in point...the defensive zone in Atlanta is where Kovalchuck's teammates play while he cherry picks around the blue line. I watched him play as a rookie in the Future Stars game before the All Star game. If I remember correctly, he scored 4 goals on breakaways or 2-on-1's because he stayed in the neutral zone waiting for a breakout pass while his teammates played defense. I don't think that he went below the top of the faceoff circles in his own zone at all during that game. He hasn't changed much since then.
