Mike Waddell's Arizona Elk!!!

I read the cover story on this web site about Mike Waddell's 300 class bull that he killed in Arizona. Not for nothin but I would be very upset if I waited 10 years to draw a coveted Arizona Elk tag and come home with a 300 Bull, and not a 350 or above!!!!

Still a great bull, but doesn't seem like it's worht the wait!!!!

What are your thoughts???

It depends on what hunting means to you. If you are hung up on the numbers, you may be dissapointed. If you are into hunting for the experience of seeing quality animals and having a good hunt, then who cares what it scores?

Now knowing the conditions, maybe he did not have a good chance at anything else. Maybe he wanted this animal. What difference does it really make?

AJ you hit it right on the head ... great point sometimes I think we forget what a privelge hunting is ... someday we may loose the privelege ... enjoy it for what it is today ...

300" is bigger then any Bull I have shot ... oh wait ... I havent ever shot a bull and would be thrilled with any Bull

Re: Mike Waddell\'s Arizona Elk!!!

i agree with the above posts...also...if it were me and i had waited 10 years to get drawn for a tag...i would take something "not so big" towards the end of the hunt as well....would you want to wait ten years..finally get the tag, go home empty handed and then risk having to wait that long again?

I wouldnt have shot it but thats just me. I have never been one to kill an animal just to call the hunt a success. I have not punched a tag yet this year and I have passed 340" elk, a 190"+ mule deer and a 78"+ antelope. I had set my sights higher and refused to settle for less. I have no regrets in passing some tremendous animals.

Re: Mike Waddell\'s Arizona Elk!!!

If you seen Michaels Roadtrips DVD it had some bonus features and showed his trophies, he didn't have nearly mounted as I would have thought. He likes the memories most of the hunt, he does not need to show off and to him a trophy may be something else. He's a great hunter and role model for future hunters. I just wish the guy would show up more on this sight! grin.gif LOL! smile.gif
