Indiana Buck

Finally got me a deer yesterday evening about 5:30. I have seen quite a few this year but have been holding out becuase a lot of them were very small. I seen a real monster during bow season and again last weekend for the opener of gun, but was not able to get him onto my property for a shot. Last evening i was hunting my evening property and as usual, the does hit the picked bean field at around 5pm. This property is right next door to a big county park and is just loaded with does. I kept hearing some grunting and couldnt figure out where it was at, finally i turned around and seen this buck standing on the creek edge watching the does. Didnt have much time to make a decision but looked like a nice rack so i squeezed the trigger. Down he went in his tracks. It's my nicest buck so far, he's not the monster i seen this year but im still very happy with him. It is an 8 pointer and went 150 dressed. Now i have to get out there and trim off some does.

Re: Indiana Buck

Thanks guys. This Buck was still in full rut. He reaked something terrible and his hind legs had been worked over. My uncle says he had this same buck on video from last year while bowhunting. It was the first time i had seen it however. This was probably the 2nd biggest buck i seen this year. I was really after a different 8 pointer out on my other property i hunt. I hunt it mornings only and i seen him on Nov 4th and then last week for the gun opener. I have hunted there 5 years and it's the first mature buck i have ever seen there. He looked a lot like the one i killed but with more width and mass. The pressure out there though sends them into hiding after opening weekend of gun. Maybe he will survive and i could get him next year when he is a real brute. I have hunted that place pretty hard and let many of buck walk so getting him at some point would feel really good. Here are a few more pics of this deer. Note the neck in the 2nd pic.
