Bowhntr
This is actually the perfect forum to post his question..Politics AND Religion. Are any other Bible believing Christians scared by Barak O'Bama and his whirlwind rise to power and now possibly the presidency? I'm sorry but I feel that I have read a whole lot of this somewhere before.
wtnhunt
Re: Anybody else scared by O\'Bama?? I am concerned, but I would not say scared. Obama has a lot of support, and Oprah has a lot of money to help boost him, but dont think this country will put him in the White House. I am hopeful that Hillary and Obama will have a somewhat ugly fight turning voters away from them both.

Guest Andrea
Re: Anybody else scared by O\'Bama?? Like I said before, his last name sounds WAY TOO MUCH like "OSAMA". Seriously, I don't see this country electing him as President. Gotta agree totally with wtnhunt.

slugshooter
Re: Anybody else scared by O\'Bama?? Why should I be scared?? Because he is a smart, intelligent black man who went from an elected state office to the US Senate. John Edwards went from trial lawyer to the US Senate. George W. Bush went from being the public face of baseball team ownership to Governor of Texas and then the Presidency. I'm more afraid of Dick Cheney being next in line to the Presidency than I am Barack Obama being a US Senator.

stevebeilgard
Re: Anybody else scared by O\'Bama?? i could also vote for powell. as for obama, he has no history, and no chance of getting the nomination. he's a media made politician, with no experience. he didn't even do anything in his first 2 years. no way will he get in the running.... this time around. but, give him 8 or 10 years, and we'll see. [/ QUOTE ] I certainly don't think anyone here is concerned about Obama because of his race, Marc--nobody that's replied yet anyway. My concern is more along the line of stevebeligard's in that the guy has no record. He probably is a good candidate for the Democrats because of that--because if they campaigned on what they really believed, they would never win. The media has kind of coronated Hillary and Obama as the Democrat front-runners---and frankly, either one of them in the White House would scary. Hillary for what she says...and Obama for what he hasn't. I would not really be a big fan of Powell running though--he's too much along the lines of a McCain moderate for me. (I would take Powell over McCain, however.) As far as an "intelligent black man" goes, I'd LOVE to see J.C. Watts run. Not only is he intelligent--but he's right on the issues. Oklahomans in his district were lucky to have him and I wish he was still in the House.

wtnhunt
Re: Anybody else scared by O\'Bama?? Well, looks as though Clinton is continuing to play her game. She is not coming out and saying if she will or will not run, but rumor on fox news is that she is indicating that she might not run in 08 which would leave Obama possibly being a front runner. Still think Hillary has every intention of running personally and she will get the nod over Obama if there is not a better candidate. John Edwards possibly still has intents to though from what I am hearing, and I would speculate that he would likely beat either of the other two if he does run. slugshooter
Re: Anybody else scared by O\'Bama?? That's all it is right now...a game. Who will run, who won't, exploratory committee's etc. etc. etc. Here are some people who I would vote for, from both parties, if they ran: John Edwards John McCain Colin Powell Jeb Bush (Yes, I would vote for a Bush, I believe Jeb is a heck of a lot smarter than his brother.) Good-Looking, Well Spoken, Minority Backed...........and NEVER DID ANYTHING WRONG. The problem with Sen. Obama is that he never did anything wrong, BECAUSE, HE'S NEVER DONE ANYTHING. The guy has the experience level of a third grader...........He just talks better. Perfect example.............Last Friday we received 14 inches of snow here in N. Illinois. Where's Sen. Obama????????????? Helping his homeless friends find shelter..........NO Helping run "Snow-Command"............NO..........Taking care of his constituents........NO............... HE'S IN LOS ANGELES RAISING MONEY FOR THE LIBS. That being said.............................. In order to answer the question....." Does Obama scare me"?????????? NO.................... wtnhunt
Re: Anybody else scared by O\'Bama?? Only question in my mind with Obama continues to be how many votes can Oprah buy him? Knowing the financial power and power in the media she has, I would not rule him out of contention. May seem a little far fetched at this point this early on, but I would speculate that John Edwards will likely beat them both out as well as beating Kerry this time around for the nod in the democratic party. He has already started, gotten his campaign manager and will have a good head start. Just cannot see Hillary beating Edwards, and think Kerry after all his shenanigans has absolutely no chance this time around.
