If some people are so torn between USC and Michigan playing OSU for that national title. Why dont we have USC play Michigan for a playoff. That would solve all of the problems. Both teams have some good points. Is USCs 20 pt win at home agasint ND better than Michigans 26 pt win at ND? How about USCs only loss came against an unranked Oregon State team by 2, and Michigans only loss came against #1 Ohio State by 3. I also read somewhere that USCs schedule has 10 bowl teams and Michigans schedule has 7. So what stats get the edge over the other? We are just gonna have to wait and see. I think the BCS will get USC and Ohio State together come heck or high water now that they stomped ND. I think they'll do that for money reasons too. How in the world would you ever judge a team by style points. Should be like basketball. Stick them all in a group and top 2 win. That simple in my opinion. USC will play ohio state because they deserve to be there...Yeah Michigan only has one loss and that is to ohio state...but they had their shot...they lost...now if USC were to some how find a way to lose to UCLA next week..then yeah, i think Michigan will get another shot...but as long as USC only has one loss...they will be there... Yes Michigan had their chance but how in the world can USC be more deserving when their loss came to an unranked team and Michigans loss against the #1 ranked team. It just baffles me to think that USC deserves it more just because Michigan already played them once and lost. My main thinking is that they lost to an unranked team. [/ QUOTE ] right there is exactly why they won't get the chance to play them again..why should OSU have to play the same team twice?? if you are going to be the champion...you have to beat the other top teams...they beat Texas...Michigan...and they will get heir shot at USC...maybe even florida if USC loses...its not who they lost to that they will be looking at...it is who they beat to get there...USC has beaten 3 straight top 25 teams...4 total this year (ranked in the top 25 at the time of the game)....michigan has beat 1 team ranked in the top 25 at the time they played and they beat wisconsin...i'm as big of michigan fan as they come...but i am also realistic...they don't deserve to be there if USC wins out...PERIOD. [/ QUOTE ] I see where you are coming from but the quality of opponets that the team beats should not be the only stat that you look at. How many loses? They each have one. Who did they lose to? USC to an UNRANKED team that they are supposed to not only beat but blow out. Michigan lost by 3 to the #1 ranked team in the country. The National Championship game is supposed to be the two best teams in the country. When you are the best 2 teams in the country you have to beat the teams you are supposed to. USC did not do that. So just because Michigans only loss came against Ohio State that means USC deserves to be there more than Michigan? I think not. So your basically telling Michigan, "your the 2nd best team in the country but since you already played Ohio State you can not play for the National Championship" That is not a very good arguement. Bottom line for my arguement is you need to beat the teams that you are supposed to. You are not supposed to beat #1 team , that is why they are #1. USC on the other hand LOST to an UNRANKED team. [/ QUOTE ] Yep no matter what people will complain. I think they should do a 12 team playoff, Make the championship game the normal time of year. Use that time to determine how long the playoffs are. That being said, I think a playoff would generate just as much if done the right way. Think how big the March Madness tourny is. Having something like that with football would be huge. They could always just name each playoff game, or keep the current BCS names (that way the corporations could big on them, NCAA still gets their money), but instead, have the winner of bowl game go on to play the winner of another bowl until we have our champion. I'm sure with a little work they could even make more money off of a playoff system. btw- USC did lose to an unranked team, but they also beat Nebraska who's playing for the Big 12 Championship, and they destroyed Arkansas who's playing for the SEC championship...and don't forget what they just did to Notre Dame.
