I don't really take the rifle out very often usually the first 2 days of Bucks-only season, the rest of the season i usually take my muzzleloader. But i'd like to get a new one thats shoots flat and consistent. I really like the Ruger .257 roberts, but was thinkin since I like using a muzzleloader and want a rifle to take if i want, i should just get a TC Omega or Encore. What should I do?

Re: Looking for a new rifle!

243 or the 25-06 and even the 22-250 are all good rifles to have for deer and other smaller critters. a friend of mine and i built one from mauser action turkish and used a pull off 243 remington barrel. loads of fun and enjoy reloading. just got started in that but i am making it work

243 is a great little gun and i know that mossberg has one sweet 243 and i believe the 270 and the 30-06 they came out withe and around here you can buy one for around 270. bucks usa style lol

i am thinking of buying one of the mossbergs for the mrs if she promises to go gun hunting with me lol

great quality and some nice work and light weight. stevens also has a vouple of new guns in 30-06 and 223 as well as 30-06 worth looking at those for the money and for the quality it is surprising

All rifles will shoot consistent...consistently poor, consistently average or consistently great. If you are sold on the 257Roberts and a TC single shot, then go for it. Sounds pretty cut and dried.
