Guest flatwoodhunter
anybody have any suggestions on keeping poachers out. i have gates up and they keep cutting the locks. i had signs up and they tear them down. the law can't do anything until i catch them on the property. i thought about putting a game cam up but if the flash goes off at night then they will see it and steal the cam.. i don't know what else to do. all suggestions are welcome. ousoonerfan22
Re: darn poachers Have someone drop you off or park where they can't see the truck and try to catch them in there. Good Luck!
wtnhunt
Re: darn poachers Setup an IR(no flash) trail cam at the gate where they are cutting your locks. Might even catch a plate number.
Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: darn poachers Two suggestions: First - either put up the IR (no flash) cameras and see what turns up; or, if you can't afford to buy the cameras, put up a sign that says you've deployed no flash cameras and will prosecute anyone on the resulting pictures Second - put up my favorite sign: Trespassers Will Be Shot -- Survivors Will Be Shot Again
LETMGROW
Re: darn poachers I would sit down and talk with my local law enforcement people. Helping you protect your property is part of their job. That is why you pay taxes. A portion of those taxes pays their salaries. Cute signs are not going to do anything except get a chuckle out of the tresspassers. Don't humor them. In some areas there are security companies who specialize in this sort of thing. Depending on your losses this might be an option. Whatever you do, if you catch the poachers don't let them get off free. Even if it turns out to be a friend or realitive. [ often times it is ] Prosecute! Make an example.

Swamphunter
Re: darn poachers I would get dropped of on a Saturday or Sunday morning and sit just inside the woods in view of the gate until the slobs arrived. I would then wait until they have cut the lock and then "greet them with your presence and your digital camera. Snap photos of them in case they walk away. Get the plate number of the vehicle and have them arrested for Criminal Mischief and Trespass.
Guest First_Light_Law_Firm
Re: darn poachers Leave them a note taped to the gate with the most likely date and time of their next visit on it. Tell them how likely it is that you (or a hunting buddy, or both) are in the woods and remind them that when they are caught they will be served WARRANTS for Christmas dinner in front of their families. wtnhunt
Re: darn poachers I like Kens idea here, just make sure someone knows where you are and have the authorities number programmed in your cell phone ready to dial when you catch them.
