If you could hunt with a pro?

Lets say you had the chance to hunt with a pro hunter like Greg Miller, Chuck Adams, David Blanton, Bob Foulkrod or anyone you could choose. You could hunt wherever you wanted, Milk River, Encinitas, Buffalo Co. Wis., or just YOUR favorite honey hole. Where would you go?

I would like to get Greg Miller here to southeast KY and let him teach me about these big woods mountain bucks. Sure, it would be nice to hunt the Milk River, but what am I going to learn there to help me the rest of my hunting life?

Kind of in the lines of "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime".

What would you do?

Re: If you could hunt with a pro?

I think it'd be great to hunt with any of those guys any place. If I had to pick one..I can't..lol...

Deer hunting--Milk River with Bill Jordan

Turkeys--sluggunner's Deer(and turkey)haven Woods in SE Wisconsin with Michael Waddell

Pinwheel, I see your point about picking a hunt from which the lessons leaned will suit your neck of the woods, but don't think I could resist the once in a lifetime kind of hunt.

I would also have to choose Michael Waddell on a deer hunt. That would be a blast I think. I also would love to go on a hunting trip with either or both of the Drury brothers. But I would LOVE to take any one of those guys and bring them out here to where I hunt....and put them to the test. grin.gif

Well, when it comes to Team Realtree, I must say that I really don't have a favourite....I love them all equally.

If I had a chance to go hunting with either of them, I think my first choice would be tied between ,deer hunting the milk river or somewhere up here ,. Either Sask. or Alberta.

Second choice would be elk ...anywhere

David Blanton or Bill Jordan would top my list...I would have liked to have had the opportunity to have hunted with Fred Bear...

I have met David, Michael, Dave Watson, Dan Fitzgerald, Guy Fitzgerald, Ray Eye, David Hale, Harold Knight and some others...But David and Bill would be a great week for me. Of course, if Michael came up and said..NORM let's hit the woods....after I woke up, we would be out there...ROFL

Re: If you could hunt with a pro?

Shane.and Onieda man....you sound a bit disgruntled lately, in some of your responses...what's up with that ?

To simplify things, (in case you didn't know) a Pro (professional) is someone who gets paid to for their services or get paid for what they do.

That would mean if you are a hunting guide, then you are a pro. If you are a TV hunter, who produces TV shows, that makes you a pro.

You can also be a pro or professional, and not be that great at what you do. There

are lots of them around in every profession, but it doesn't make them any less of a pro as long as they are making their living at it.

I think you may be confusing the word PRO with EXPERT.

My 1st choice would be an African bowhunt with Gene Wensel. He's a happy go lucky type of guy and enjoys having fun.

My 2nd choice would be a Kansas bowhunt with Michael Waddel. He knows how to have a good time too and I'd like to see how he gets those big Kansas bucks to walk out into wide open areas like he does. All of the good bucks I've seen in Kansas during my 3 hunts have stayed in fairly thick stuff.

Re: If you could hunt with a pro?

It is easy to confuse the two. Pro and expert are often misinterpreted. I would be lying if I said I wasn't envious of the hunting celebrities. A lot of us are whether we care to admit it or not.

These professionals do achieve a level of expertise just by the fact that they do hunt for a living. I am sure that in hunting situations ANYWHERE they would know what it takes to kill their quarry.

Now, as for who I'd like to hunt with: Michael Waddell, Jim Shockey, Roger Raglin, Barry Wensel David Blanton, Don Kiskey, Terry Drury, Harold Knight, Chuck Adams, Matt Morrett, Tom Miranda, Bob Foulkrod, Jeff Foxworthy, Noel Feather, Dan Fitzgerald, Babe Winkleman, Eddie Salter, Dave Watson, Mark Drury, Brad harris, Wade Nolan, Bob Kirschner, Gene Wensel, Dwight Schu, M.R. James, etc, etc, etc, and yes even Jackie Bushman. I'll be waiting for that call! crazy.gif

Re: If you could hunt with a pro?

here is my thought.i have a couple friends in s e ohio who has.1 he has got 8 bucks between 140 and 170.2 the other has around 6 in the same class.there not pros.no one pays for them to hunt and they find there OWN bucks.all in s e ohio.no one calls them and says hey i got a big buck spotted come on and hunt him like many many pros do.these 2 men r experts..thats the different between a pro and expert

Re: If you could hunt with a pro?

Gosh 1strut,i never thought of me as a expert and i am not the guys from Ohio but heck i fall in that critera.Thanks.

I have hunted the same woods at the same time with Knight & Hale and i have hunted the same woods with Hank Williams jr. I have talked to Roger Raglin about hunting with us here in Ky.

I like what was said about the difference about a Pro and Expert.Alot of us all have the same techniques of Hunting, but a Professional has a smaller time limit to bring down that Monster Buck and are Sponsered and able to cover alot more tags from other places. It would be great to hunt with the most of them but i prolly would choose Michael Waddel or Jeff Foxworthy.Overall tho,if it was possible i would choose alot of you to hunt with because there are some excellent Hunters here and most have Great respect for Hunting.

I have always wanted to hunt with Bill, Micheal and David. I figure they could use some of my advise on hunting those big bucks...LOL grin.gif Or maybe they could teach me a few things.

Yeah Tony I hope someday you will come back and do some hunting with me here. wink.gif
