Turkeygirl
Ok, I was looking through a Cabela's cataloge yesterday, and thinking of a good Christmas gift. Well I saw they have several broadhead sharpners which I though would be a great gift. But I want to know, do any of you have one and does it work? And yand I shoot 125 grain Thunderheads, though I may be shanging to 100 grain next season, and if any blades get a little dull, we put new ones on, such as from a miss and hitting dirt and going through a deer. I thought it would be a good gift for Andy, would save on having to buy new blades. I want to hear any opinions though, don't want to spend money on something that doesn't work. Any sharpeners you suggest?
Chrud
Re: Broadhead sharpeners? Most new blades are pretty sharp and ready for hunting. You can get a neat broadhead sharpener that has a broadhead wrench on the opposite end for a couple dollars. When I put my hunting blades in, I just run the sharpener over each blade 5 times. Then if the blade cuts through stretched rubberbands, you're good to go. If you miss, I would just buy new blades. But just to sharpen the edge every now and then, the sharpener/wrench combo is a really good one.
Turkeygirl
Re: Broadhead sharpeners? Ok. I know we have alot of blades lying around that are in great shape, no nicks, just need some sharpening...
Doc
Re: Broadhead sharpeners? I'm kind of interested in replies to this post to. There must be somebody who has stumbled onto the "ultimate" broadhead sharpener. Doc
Gator
Re: Broadhead sharpeners? MAGNUS recommends the ACCUSHARP for their 2 blade heads, don't know why it wouldn't work for any other head
buckee
Re: Broadhead sharpeners? Here's a link to a few different types of sharpeners. Broad-Head Sharpeners I shoot Montec G5's now, so I use the Montec sharpener for not only my broadheads, but for all my knives too. Great sharpener. When I used to shoot replaceable blade broadheads, I would use 400 and 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper to get the edge back on the blades. I hated buying new blades if I didn't have to. I also would take the blades out of the broadhead and insert them into an X-acto knife handle for easy handling while touching them up on the sand-paper. JimPic
Re: Broadhead sharpeners? the accusharp is a great sharpener.I also use a large mill **** file to sharpen up my broadheads--been using the file for years and it gets 'em scary sharp
Bowtech_archer07
Re: Broadhead sharpeners? I suggest a SpeedySharp from Snap-on. It's not a broadhead sharpener exlusively. It's a sharpener that works on knives and I use it on my broadheads as well and it does a great job.
