superguide
They found my neighbor from across the muskkeg dead in his house yestrerday. This guy never made a TV show or sold any DVD's-but he was the best hunter and purest woodsman I've ever known. Long before the days of GPS's and gadgets he'd pack into elk country alone every fall and shoot a good bull elk-13 years in a row in fact. This is copuntry with not alot of elk-nobody knows how many moose or derr he got along the way. I hunted with him from time to time and what struck me was he had not the slightest fear of the bush-if a moose or elk track had him ten miles from camp at dark he dealt with it-but he never stopped hunting-never turned off a track to get back to the truck. My friend was a big gruff guy who had alot of people scared of him but he was a true character and will be sadly missed. He always greeted me with 'GUIDE' and a big laugh. Gonna miss him. doughboy1956
Re: Great Hunter Lost Sorry to hear. The best don't want to be Living In The Limelight . They have nothing to prove to anyone. If i had to spend a year living in a remote area off the land, they would be the folks i want, not the ones with their own show on TV having eveything done for them. Most of the best hunters ever have never had their own show. I'll bet that most of them are not even known outside of their community. Not saying the guys on TV are not good hunters. Some are fortunate to be known & make a living doing this. Doesn't make them the best though. I am sorry for you losing a friend Superguide.
