BigDog
On Friday I shot and killed a doe, it ran about 100 yards and droped. A another hunter came over and before I could get out of my treestand the hunter shot it and said it was his. Then he threatened me. So I got his licencs number and left. buckee
Re: stolen deer! Man, that is unbelievable. You sure did the right thing though...no sense being another statistic over a deer. I sure hope they prosecute the weirdo. You will most likely have to appear in court if they do and I sure hope you do. They guy needs to be taken out of the hunter gene pool somehow. billygoat
Re: stolen deer! dogdoc's right, you were right to just take his tag, it wasn't worth getting shot over. The first buck I ever shot was taken from me by another hunter, so I certainly can feel your pain. The good news is, there will be others. Guest Xen
Re: stolen deer! a lot of people can be real jerks over a deer, you did the right thing tho, let him have hit, and get his info - the law can handle them, besides, you wouldn't want to take something home after a situation like that, the meat would have tasted horrible and probably have been radio-active from all the bad karma, so no real loss to you
Washi
Re: stolen deer! I met a guy once who had a huge buck stolen from him in nearly the same way. I don't know if I'd have the self control to let them go but I guess it's good I've never had that problem then.
HuntingInMaine
Re: stolen deer! The guy should be ashamed of himself. He knows he didn't kill that deer, so if nothing comes of it legally, at least what he has left for a conscious should bother him! And good for you for dealing with it so calmly, you chose a very mature way to deal with the problem.
wtnhunt
Re: stolen deer! That is too bad, but you did the right thing. Had a buck I killed a few years ago that we suspect a leasee from the property behind us of stealing.
