bbarnhart20
My cousin's friend was unloading his gun yesterday and it went off and went through a car door and hit my cousin in the chest. He got really lucky the wound was about the size of a volleyball but only 2" deep and didn't hit any main arteries or anything, they said if it was a centimeter either way then it woulda been tragic but it just goes to show you to use extra caution during gun season. He's doin ok just a bad wound. Thanks and be safe!
brad dryden
Re: Please be extra careful with your guns! Was it bird shot? But gun season is the time to take double percasion even when unloading your gun.

bbarnhart20
Re: Please be extra careful with your guns! Thanks guys! I've been to see him twice now he's doin alright just a big wound and some bruising on his lung but they said you'll get that with an inpact like that, and he's in a lot of pain, he'll be laid up for a whiile though. He said he's gonna take a break from gun hunting, prob. for at least a yr. says he'll stick with the bow... I don't really know the exact story but i'm not gonna worry about that, all I know is that it was an accident that coulda been prevented but they happen so i'm just glad that he's doin ok. tedicast
Re: Please be extra careful with your guns! wow...very lucky! I'm betting not many people can say they survived a chest wound from a .270. Someone was definetely watching him as Oneida said! Hope he has a speedy recovery, and finds some new. safer hunting partners.
Guest PAdeerdreamer
Re: Please be extra careful with your guns! God was with him that day.We never load our guns until we are on stand since it is dark anyway. Then we unload when we know we are about 200-250yrds. from the road. You can never be to safe. Just re read the original post, guesse it never said if he was in or out of the car when he was unloading, sorry if misunderstood.
Canadian_Goose
Re: Please be extra careful with your guns! That's the importance of muzzle direction. I hope your cousin feels better soon. I feel sorry for the guy who shot him as well, he must feel terrible.
