He came up with LAZY D but there is a camp down the road with the same name. for some back ground info name=Donbach, will be used for all hunting (bear, deer, turkey, bow, rifle+fishing) If you need any more info to make a better decision on the name just let me know.

Re: Camp Name?

Our familiy has a log cabin in the U.P. My grandfather built it in the 30's before he even owned his own home. He was in his mid 20's at the time. IT's still in our family as a vacation spot and a fall deer camp. He was a forester for Mead paper up there so trees were his thing.

Camp is called "The Hemlock Lodge" I love the ring to that. However, massive old old Hemlocks surround the place so it's very fitting,,, and beautiful.

Re: Camp Name?

When I was young my Father had a camp with 6 other guys in PA.

I remember that camps name as "The Lucky 7".

At first there were only 4 guys in the camp and then it was named "4 Leaf Clover".

How about "Gunsmoke", "HuntersVille", "PeaceTonia", "RackenRod", "Boonenanza", "FurFinhouse"???

Re: Camp Name?

We named our camp " Snowbound ". Located in the Tug Hill area of NY state we get more snow per year average than anyplace else east of the Rockies.

Some have asked if the name implied if we were actually snowbound or if we were bound for snow. Actually both fit as we are die hard snowmobilers.

Not many years ago, I helped the Sheriff's Dept. in a rescue mission when we had a 60" plus snowfall in the area in a 12 hour period. I was a volunteer groomer operator for my local snowmobile club at the time. Another operator and I took two of our large tractors out and between us we assisted or brought out 32 people who were stranded in their camps for the weekend. smile.gif

Re: Camp Name?

A lot of camp names are derived from some unique feature on the property. Look around for some prominent or unusual topographical feature.

Other camps are named after some unusual event that occurred there.

Others are tied in with the names the owners of the property, such as your Grandfather attempted.

Camp naming is a rather personal choice and I suspect you really don't want us to come up with it for you.
