10acboy
I went into one of our local Walmarts and asked to see their gun catalog. I was wondering what they asked for a Winchester or Remington .308 and they told me that they do not sell guns anymore. Am I behind on the times? I had no idea that they weren't going to sell anymore guns. I am bummed about that. They did have a bunch of stuff on sell though. I bought a couple of fleece Winchester jackets priced at 30 marked down to 10. I got a blaze orange hooded sweatshirt for 5 and some camo for my youngest boy for 3. Pretty good sales, but not much to pick from at this point.

Orion_70
Re: Wal Mart Woes I inquired on the same at a Walmart here that stopped selling firearms. They told me they had to sell a minimum of 150 guns a year to keep them in the store. They were also going to take out ammunition until they realized the profit margin and decided to keep that for now, but also could stop that in the future if sales wane. 257bob
Re: Wal Mart Woes My understanding is that the top 20% stores in sales will keep guns. I used to manage a sporting goods department in Iowa and the salaried members of management there didn't like to deal with guns. In general, most don't have any idea about guns or how to sell them properly, but are still required to be responsible for the transaction. If there is any Wal-Mart management in here, obviously you are probably not one of the ones I am talking about. It wouldn't surprise me to see Wal-Mart lose guns altogether in the near future. Frankly they aren't willing to pay knowlegeable staff enough to take care of each individual department and are trying to avoid huge legal issues with fouled up firearms records. arrow32
Re: Wal Mart Woes Our walmart still has guns i asked about if they would be getting rid of them and he said not that he knows of. Heard it was everyone in the country but i think its just certain walmarts.

10acboy
Re: Wal Mart Woes Thanks for the info. It's nice to know that all Walmarts will not be getting out of the gun business. We have 2 super walmarts and 1 regular one and all of them are within 10 miles of my house, I guess that I will have to check out the other 2. Thanks again
