Turkeygirl
Ok, could use some types guys. We got unexpected snow last night so right now it is snowing and we have some good snow on the ground which means some exciting hunting I expect! I think I'll go out after lunch today, will have to walk as Andy has one car at work and sister is taking other to school. I'm figuring I should try to do some still hunting or slowly walk and try to spot a buck for my tag...or would I be better off just sitting in a stand?Andy and I haven't seen anything doing a few small drives this weekend. In a recent outdoor life they give tips for hunting late season bucks and they suggest try to find some tracks, target crop fields, heavy cover,etc...What do you suggest I do today? And how do I know if a fresh track I come upon is a buck or not? Any tips would be great! Thanks!

Turkeygirl
Re: Late season fresh snow hunting Thanks wtn. Hopefully I'll sneak up on an unsuspecting buck:) But if not, should be fun hiking through a blizzard, lol. Guess I'll just try to stay downwind and work my way around and hopefully come across some large, fresh tracks of a buck...but not the tracks of any hunters. Guest HaDeRonDa
Re: Late season fresh snow hunting I just got back from hunting and the snow was hot. I cut two sets of tracks and they then went and hunkered down in some swail grass. They were there for at least 2 hrs and I figured that after the weekend hunting pressure they didn't need me pushing them around. I left for the benefit of myself later this year and for that of other hunters. Oh, the deer too. Even the turks were hunkered down and not moving it was snowing here so hard. Turkeygirl
Re: Late season fresh snow hunting I went out today, didn't find any fresh tracks or anything until I veered off a logging trail onto another one going deeper into hemlocks and came upon a doe eating 20 yards in front of me. I crouched behind a tree and watched as 5 does total came out, all easy shots with gun or especially bow. They never saw me until one started walking towards me then they just kind of went back into the hemlock. Saw 2 more does later on, only had like 5 seconds to see them. Just gotta find the bucks now...Snow was great though.
