wheelin99xj
I bought a remington 700 sps in 22-250 this weekend and put a Nikon Pro staff 3-9x40 scope on it. They bore sighted it at Bass Pro but I was wondering what is the best way to get it sighted in? I have heard dead on at 25 yards and then see where it is at other distances is that right? Any tips or input is great. Thanks
Canadian_Goose
Re: sighting in my new rifle check out what your expected ballistics might be. Go to the ammuinition sight that you are shooting and they should have some charts for you. Some guys start at 25, some start at 100 its all diffrent. I know my brothers .308 if it is shooting dead on at 25 it shoots way high at 300... go figure. But that's just the rifle he has. I would punch a couple at 25 then move on. OJR
Re: sighting in my new rifle Start at 25 yards! If you are dead on at 25 yards, you are going to be high at 100! Adjust your scope to where you want it at 100 yards and go from there!
too_pointer
Re: sighting in my new rifle Good advice. If you can hit the target at 25 yards, then you move off to 50 yards, then 100 and farther if you want. Good luck with it and keep on asking question if you need too. too_
johnf
Re: sighting in my new rifle If it's bore sighted it should be on the paper at 100 yards. That's where I start on everything except my ML.
shockwave
Re: sighting in my new rifle From what i have seen sighting in dead on at 25 yards, puts you 3 inches high at 100. You could try sighting in 3 inches low at 25, in theory it should have you dead on at 100...
Hoyt03
Re: sighting in my new rifle If its bore sighted like others said you should be able to hit a 12" x 12" piece of paper at 100. See where your hitting and go from there. I guess you can start at 25 but I see no need. Goodluck
