Camouflage Help!

Hey guys, I need you're help deciding on which camouflage pattern I should pick for deer hunting. I live in New Hampshire if it's any help.

Anyways, I'm planning on buying this pants and parka combo from Cabela's:

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/template...=cat470090&rid=

The patterns they offer are:

-Mossy Oak New Break-Up

-Seclusion 3D

-Realtree Hardwords HD Grey

Now I've never even heard of the brand Seclusion, and it looks like the most unmatchable for deer season enviorments in NH.

Mossy Oak New Break-Up I'm leaning twoards because it's one of the most respectable names in the hunting industry, and it looks very compatible. It also it offered on many shotguns, accesories, etc.

Then, Realtree Hardwords HD Grey for some reason seems to look the most compatible barely over New Break-Up, with my enviorment, but I'm not sure, all the pictures on their website seems to depict a differnt look when I scroll through the pics, same with Mossy Oak's picture.

So, my decision lies in the hands of the professionals here at Mossy Oak's forums!

Around here the enviorments vary, but in deer season it seems that the dominant pattern is those brown/tan leaves, brown sticks and twigs, and green pine trees here and there.

Take a look at ASAT camo. I have been using it for 5 years and have yet to be picked off either on the ground or in a stand. asatcamo.com. Good luck.

Re: Camouflage Help!

Your link brought up the cabelas gift shop.

Personally I prefer advantage timber for most situations here, but have some mossy oak breakup and new breakup, and both patterns work ok.

I think advantage timber is still the most versatile pattern out there though and will work most anywhere and would be my choice if they offer it.

Re: Camouflage Help!

Camoflage doesn't make that much difference. Really, you're overthinking this.

Scent control and movement on stand is more important.

Me, I like predator. Most of the others look like a dark blob from 100 yards. wink.gif

Though I would like to be brand loyal you need to pick one that fits your area best. The HD Grey may be way too light in the swamps where deer hang when the weather gets rough and the MO may be too dark on the rigdes if you are moving. If you are a non-mover the MO will work on the ridges. You will be a stump to the deer. They see stumps all the time and pay no attention to them.

Ever see a decaying grey stump in a balsam forest?

So. You'll have to pick for yourself.

Imagine the military being brand loyal in regards to camo? In a way they are, but they are sort-of forced to.

I haven't seen the Realtree AP and I am looking forward to the first view, I mean non-comp view. That may be what you will want in NH.

Camo is probably going on sale soon but if you can wait a bit. That may be your best choice.
