Unbelievable WI Hunting Season

We had an unbelievable season this year starting with my Dad pulling a double with the bow taking these 2 deer on 9-21-06.

Then on 10-12-06 I harvest my biggest buck ever. This 195 lb 17" spread 8pt. Bow10-12-06m5x7.jpg

Then on the WI Gun Season opener, 11-18-06, I managed to take 5 of the 7 deer I saw (3 adult doe and 2 yearling doe). This picture was taken looking down from my treestand. Wac 'em and Stack 'em I think is the phrase.

Then we finished up on Monday 11-20-06 when I harvested my 2nd nice buck of the year. This one was 190 lbs, 14" spread 6 pt with 3 sticker point. Unfortunately he had both brow tines broke off.

We ended up with a freezer full of meat filling 9 of our 10 tags. This is the best season we have had in a long time and one that will be hard to forget. I would like to congratulate all of you that spent the time in the woods doing what we love to do, Hunt. I would like to send out a special thanks to my Dad, for getting me started 23 years ago. I hope we have many more seasons together and I can't wait until my girls are old enough to hunt. They are ready now, but the law says they are too young. What ya gonna do except keep getting them ready for when that day comes.

I was sitting there and looked down and thought it looked cool, so I had to take the pic. My friends wouldn't have believed me otherwise.

Wow that is alot of does in one sitting, how many does are you guys allowed up there? I would have loved to see you tie all 5 on a rope and try to drag them suckers out of the woods. Did you have an ATV to help with getting them all out? Congrats on a great year.

I was thinking the same thing Hoyt03 was thinking. I have taken a few doubles in the past few years and that was a chore all its own. I do process all my own meat and do it by myself, so when i looked at that pick i was thinking " Well looks like i know what i will be doing for the next couple of weeks " Congrats on the good season. I have 3 in the freezer now and working on a couple more.

Hoyt03 and rad, In the unit my Dad and I hunt are a earn-a-buck unit. When we buy our archery tag and rifle tag you get a free antlerless tag with each one. So that is 4 tags there and this year they gave an extra antlerless tag to anyone who purchased an archery tag. So Dad and I each had 3 antlerless only and 2 tags that could be used for buck or doe. By the way rad it does help getting the family invovled in the processing job. Most of the deer are taken care of by Dad and me, but we get the kids involved whenever possible. I don't figure to have this luck again any time soon.

Congrats! I also live in Holmen, but split my time hunting in Blair and Necedah. You shot almost as many deer as I saw during the '06 rifle season, but took a 140 class 8 point on Monday so only ended up hunting three days. I didn't have to Earn-a-Buck in Necedah.
