Re: Caring for clothes in the off season?

Nope, it's not. I do the same thing except for the plastic bags. I get the snap lid tote-tainers, wash my clothes with scent-free detergant, dry with earth scent sheets, and store with earth scent wafers and left over dryer sheets. I love the smell of dirt! LOL What's that moto? You can never do a enough to fool a deers nose! laugh.gif

Re: Caring for clothes in the off season?

I wash them in Scent-A-Way detergent, dry them with Scent-A-Way Dryer Sheets and then store them in different Rubbermaid Totes (one for pants, one for coats, one for insulated, one for my hats, gloves, etc., one the backpacks and turkey vests and one for blaze orange. I have three smaller ones that I store my gear (calls, stuff like that) in (I put all that stuff in ziplock bags) and one last big one for traveling. When I put camo in there a day or two before the hunt, then I pop some fresh earth scent wafers in that one. Works great for me!

So when you walk upstairs by my room, you are greeted by seven 25 gallon Rubbermain totes (including the one for traveling) and three 18 gallon Rubbermaid totes. grin.gif

Re: Caring for clothes in the off season?

Rubbermaid totes with H.S. Scents earth wafers tossed in. From my backpack to boots, everything hunting related gets stored in a tote.

At the end of season before the tote gets put away, I do an inventory check, remove all batteries from radios and flashlights, check the caps on scents, and make a list of what to get for next season.

Re: Caring for clothes in the off season?

Not over kill but I do not do this.

I re-hang mine outside for a long while in hopes they get rained on and air dryed.

(Sometimes I need a dryer since it gets freezing here...)

I then just throw them all in a big tote, no scent added at all.

I use some of the heavier clothing during ice fishing, and plowing the driveway on the ATV since they are the only true cold weather gear I own.

Come late summer they go back outside and I let mother nature clean and dry them.

I am not worried about mud or blood stains since it can only add to the camo... LOL

But then again I never noticed any that stay on the clothing now that I think about it.

I NEVER put them in the washer any longer and very rarely in the dryer. Those 2 machines will break down colors and fabric faster then anything...

Thats a fact!

JMO but my hunting clothing is scent free and clean by the time my bow season comes. Thats good enough for me...

I then use Carbon Blast and UV killer periodically throughout the 3 seasons...

Same exact thing here,, come early fall, I gather some trimmings from a pine tree, stick them in a

mesh bag and throw it into the tote sort of like a booster,, works great,,

Keey my stuff in garage,,

Re: Caring for clothes in the off season?

I don't buy that expensive scent-away detergent. I just wash all my hunting cloths in a cup of Baking-Soda and put them in a scent free Recycling Garbage bag and tie it up for the season. Sometimes I'll throw in a few branches off my ceder trees (if I think of it)
