Turkeygirl
So some of you may not know this but before you go out hunting, and youh ave plans to try and stay warm...empty your bladder first, lol. Really, seriously I learned this in Wilderness First Responder training. Having a full bladder won't help you get any warmer, it'll just help you get colder. I remembered this yesterday when I got cold hunting and started walking back home. I find out I really had to pee, so despite a horrible wind chill and it being like 10 degrees and snowing, I popped a squat behind a tree. I can't remember exactly why you would be colder with a full bladder, but it's true! Just thought I'd share with you all

Turkeygirl
Re: Something you might find interesting I would think though that drinking something warm beforehand would help, but then you gotta pee again, lol. You should eat before going out into the cold because as your body breaks down(metabolizes) the food, it produces heat. Ok, that was my lesson for the day, lol. Guest TnLadyhunter
Re: Something you might find interesting Yeah it might be because you gotta a cold bear butt hanging out when you go!! We women got it rough!
mrswtnhunt
Re: Something you might find interesting That is interesting, will keep it in mind. Have any of you ladies ever peed in a scrape? My husband does it all the time. He says that it will make the dominant buck think that another buck has "used" his scrape. He says it works. I've never tried it because it takes so long to get all the gear off to go. I agree with TnLadyhunter, we do got it rough.
Shaun_300
Re: Something you might find interesting I do feel sorry for you ladies when you have to do that! I don't usually pay attention to how much liquids go in be before the hunt, but then again, it's a lot easier for guys to 'relieve' themselves I guess. Guest TnLadyhunter
Re: Something you might find interesting I personally would NEVER pee anywhere near where I hunt. I always go at least 100 yards away. But I have heard that theory and have friends who have tried it. It didn't work for them and I won't try it! I am way to paranoid on scent to do such a thing. My theory on why it might work is you scrape the dirt away like a buck would and in a day or two the human scent is dispersed. Also if the scrape is active the deer will cover the human scent up. I believe if the human scent has been there over a couple hours the deer do not mind it, they can tell when it is not fresh. I have had friends try it when they were hunting and the deer come in and as soon as they get down wind of the srcrape they are out of there. But the next day the scrape has been used. Deer know the scent is old after a little while. But that is just my opinion some people I know do it very often and say it keeps the scrape active. I just believe it is a active scrape and that is not effecting it either way. He could be right what do I know.

Straight Shooter
Re: Something you might find interesting A little known fact, deer can't distinguish between human and animal urine. Personally I don't do that, but i do know I freeze my butt off it I do have to go. That is why I only drink one cup of coffee before I go hunting. I'm good for at least 5 hours or so. birdhunter39
Re: Something you might find interesting the food you eat act's like fire wood , your body use's it for fuel , just like when you pour gas on the ground and light it ,it goes out after a while ,coffee is the same way after a while the cafine is used up , when i go hunting i bring little snacks , like an apple , orange , beef jerkey ,etc to help keep my body burning energy , this is stuff i've learned on my own , reading magazines and surivor man
