timberlandtaxi
Re: Tanning A Deer Hide On Your Own Backwoods, dry preservative is not a tan and will not produce leather.
Guest dedicatedmarine
Re: Tanning A Deer Hide On Your Own I've used Mc kenzie's brush-on tan and that worked well. We also used to use a product called kro-tan which also worked very well, but might be difficult to get your hands on without a liscense

Guest dedicatedmarine
Re: Tanning A Deer Hide On Your Own in wisconsin, you need a taxidermy liscense to purchase certain products, because they don't want these chemicals to get into the hands of the wrong people. I believe it's sold through McKenzie (not certain). McKenzie, VanDyke, and Rhinehart are the three biggest suppliers of taxidermy supplies. RTF
Re: Tanning A Deer Hide On Your Own So do McKenzie, VanDyke, and Rhinehart, have a Wisconsin's Taxidermist license on file ? I have never heard such a thing since anyone anywhere can do taxidermy for ones self.
