Guest HaDeRonDa
While talking to my wife earlier today she mentioned that a friend of hers was looking to purchase a rifle for her husband that was of a large caliber. A moose killer kind!! LOL Somehow this specific caliber Remington has chambered in a gun is scrapped and has gone back to the R&D team. (this is the 3rd hand story I got) Any idea what this gun and caliber was?
OUTSIDER
Re: Recent Remington rifle caliber problem?? I got nothing for you. That puzzles me a little...time to start digging. Maybe with them introducing all the ultramags and short actions ultra mags they have started to scrap some older type calibers. Thats what i could figure
AJ
Re: Recent Remington rifle caliber problem?? Yeah, I am sure that data is correct. They drop chamberings due to sales. If it is not cost efficient to keep offering them, they let them go by the wayside. You can order just about any Remington chambering from their custom shop. Their 338 RUM was a great example. They offered it in a handfull of different Model 700 configurations. Now its only offered as an XCR other than from the custom shop. Another flop was the SAUM. I don't see them sticking around much longer.
Guest HaDeRonDa
Re: Recent Remington rifle caliber problem?? I was wondering if sales was the problem. This info this gal got form a gun shop that deals Remington. Franks Guns in Marcy. I took a tour of their plant in Ilion last year before we moved up here. Nice plant but you could tell things just weren't right. Employees seemed to want out. It looked like a tidal wave was going to hit as I sat at the local McDonalds and watched a shift get out. AJ
Re: Recent Remington rifle caliber problem?? When I saw that Remington was importing the same gun Charles Daly was importing from Zastava of Serbia and they are calling it their 798, I see flags going up that I don't like. As far as the cartridges they offer, they are tested and tested and re-tested and actually, have been around for long time (sometimes decades) as wildcats. So its not like its a problem with the design of the cartridge.
Guest HaDeRonDa
Re: Recent Remington rifle caliber problem?? I thought that too! I said to my wife that the action of 700 Rem is one of hte most versitile and strongest so why would they just stop this specific caliber? I need to see if I can get more info on this. Maybe I can call her friend and talk to her. This is really odd.
