PAstringking
Re: Late season bow they might be doing some late rutting activitey but mainly, like stated above, find the food and you will see the deer. you want to try and hunt closer to the bedding area on the way into the food because the bigger bucks wont want to come out into the fields until after dark. lakemisurfer
Re: Late season bow There is some down corn fields and thick woods, the tracks were outside the woods on the edge of the corn and open fields....I'm thinking more in the woods for a stand location. But why not hunt the walking lanes??

Hoyt03
Re: Late season bow b/c the deer are most likely not using these during daylight hours, if they are then by all means set up on a trail
Tom2008
Re: Late season bow [ QUOTE ] walking lanes?? [/ QUOTE ] He means deer trails or the trails that deer walk along.
PAstringking
Re: Late season bow i didnt say anything about not hunting "walking lanes" you just hunt them closer to the bedding area not out in the open field
PAbowhunter86
Re: Late season bow Here in PA the gun season just ended!!! The deer are still scared and havent gotten back to routine. But find the Food that they are using and set up close by. I like to look for food plots (corn, hay field) close to pine groves and other heavy cover. lakemisurfer
Re: Late season bow This a metro area so I can't bait and I know no one has hunted here in over a year. I think I'll set up a deer cam first to scout. I have access to the woods but only 20 yards or so and it's realy thick. The best spot seems to be on a corner of the woods and semi wooded field. Wish I could bait!
lakemisurfer
Re: Late season bow Got the stand up yesterday, the snow is all melted. Tracks everywhere! Saw a good size track that included the rear hooves, do those typically only belong to males?? now I can hunt till Jan. 31st!
Dogg6
Re: Late season bow They will mostly be looking for food. You might find a few bucks still looking for a doe, but mostly food. Good luck on your late season hunt.
lakemisurfer
Re: Late season bow Just pulled my deer cam, 59 pictures in 5 days! I counted 6 different bucks, one shooter 8pt! I'm on it Tuesday!
Guest Xtremebowhunter
Re: Late season bow Like was stated earlier, find the food, and you'll find the deer. This time of the year i bowhunt a picked bean field. The past 3 years its produced 3 really nice bucks for me. Went last night for the first time since rifle season to that spot seen 7 bucks and 20 does come to the field. 2 150 class 10s, 2 120 class 8s, 1 small 10, and 2 small 8s. The deer come to this field every night like this. Definately find the food.

Anyways I moved and he moved a into some tress, bummer. He was not spooked. The question is do I take him or see what else lurks in the trees?? Or he could be a nice 10 next year....Whats the call?
