I stepped out of the circle. I went and bought an 07 Martin Bengal for $400. The greatest $400 I have ever spent. Plus it is one sweet bow.

Good choice. The Bengal along with FB's Instinct, they both can easily compete with bows around $1k.

You've got that right for sure. wink.gif

Re: STEP OUT OF THE CIRCLE.......

One of the guys I hunt with shoots a McPherson. Not sure of the model, but it looks very similar to the one you bought. I shoot a PSE Triton. I've compared it to the Switchback and the XT, and frankly can't see $800 worth of difference. My bare bow on eBay was $285 brand new. Spent another $200 getting it rigged out and now I've got a smooth, fast, quiet bow for under $500. Hummm, wonder what I should do with that $800 I saved? Maybe I'll take a hunting trip! cool.gif

Re: STEP OUT OF THE CIRCLE.......

The last bow I bought was a Pearson Anaconda and I can not believe that anyone could possibly desire a bow that offers anymore than what this bow can do. It is smooth, quiet and accurate and overall just a joy to shoot. The one down side is there are no local dealers, but since I do all of the maintenance myself that has not been a problem. Set up and ready to shoot the total cost was under $450.00. My other bow (now my backup) is a Browning Aspiration, which I purchased ten years ago and it also cost less than $500.00 fully setup. When you can get arrow splitting accuracy along with a quiet, smooth shooting bow for under $500.00, one would have to wonder how companies like Mathews can even get anyone to buy their stuff. Oh yeah, it's called marketing, and good marketing sells. I don't think the game we shoot really cares. Remember, you do not need a Cadillac or a Hummer to drive to work, nor do you need a Mathews or Hoyt to shoot a deer, but if that's what one prefers or thinks they need, well maybe that's the mental edge to help get the job done. Just practice hard and long and shoot straight when the opportunity arrives.

Re: STEP OUT OF THE CIRCLE.......

Clay there are a lot of great bows out there now, some jump on the bandwagon of certain brands without giving others a shot. I think in today's bow world you have to offer great quality in order to compete, whether it be a $800 bow or a $250.00 bow, you have to have quality to get and keep customers happy.

Re: STEP OUT OF THE CIRCLE.......

Well Clay, I shoot a pse fireflite 33. I really like the bow, and the package deal was around $300 when I bought it new 5 or 6 years ago. Of course I have added a few things since then, but still dont have anywhere near in it what some of these new bare bows are going for. It is a very flat fast shooting bow with the carbons I am shooting, and so long as it works for me, I could honestly care less about the brand and all the latest greatest hype.

Re: STEP OUT OF THE CIRCLE.......

Last year I purchased one of the special production bows from Pearson (Venom). Great choice. I've owned Mathews, the old Diamond before bowtech bought out, PSE and now have a bowtech tribute. Great bow but not reall any better than the Venom. I will be buying another Pearson as I gave my son-in-law he Venom. Actually I can buy 2 bows such as the Venom for the pice of the other bows.

Re: STEP OUT OF THE CIRCLE.......

I agree that there are a ton of good bows out there on the market. I'd never bash any bow or the guy who likes shooting it, no matter what he pays.

I really, really enjoy shooting my Switchback XT.

For me and only me, this XT is the best bow I've shot in 20+ years of bowhunting and I'm glad to have it. wink.gif

Re: STEP OUT OF THE CIRCLE.......

good for you Clay to find a bow that is the right one for you. its funny how we can get locked into one brand and then for some reason just never try anything else. then when we try them we say man why wasnt i shooting this bow before.

i still like my Hoyts..but i dont buy new anymore. wink.gif i just wait until some guy wants to dump last years model and then pick them up. bought a 2003 Hoyt Protec cam and half for 200 bucks. wink.gifwink.gif

good luck with your new bow and hunting this next season.

Shoot Strong
