Re: Regular or Small Diameter arrows

Personally, I don't think there is any advantage, penetration wise, to the smaller diameter arrows. Assuming you use a fieldpoint that is the same diameter, I think it would have more penetration than a "regular" carbon arrow. But, most broadheads are going to have a ferrell bigger than the diameter of the arrow. The bottom of a Muzzy 100 grain is larger than my GT 75/95. Plus, broadheads make a 1" plus hole. The arrow will be soaked in blood too, and I don't you have to worry about blood offering any resistance.

I could be wrong, but I don't buy the "better penetration" of the small diameter arrows. But, the choice is yours.

Changing your arrow shaft to a smaller diameter is not really going to help penetration. You have to factor in kenetic energy. Usually the smaller arrows produce less kenetic energy than the more "meatier" arrow shaft. You want a shaft that will tune great with your bow and have enough force to drive the broadhead through boiler room!! Personally I shoot the carbon express Maxima 350. They tuned perfect to my bow and Im driving them deep into 3D targets, and completly though deer. Good luck with arrow choice...
