Guest Clay008
Do you conceal carry with a round in the barrel? Once I get my permit I will probably carry with a round in the barrel. The way I see it, when you need to use the weapon you might not have time to rack it.

bowana
Re: One in the pipe.... Happines is a locked and cocked 1911. I have not found a weapon that engages from the holster faster (arguably of course). I can also engage targets quite rapidly with a Model 33 Glock. "One in the pipe" is the only option. Might as well not carry if its not loaded. Too much extra weight to be buried with. Marksman aim for center, sharpshooters shoulder high BUT THE EXPERTS ARE A' SMIL'IN WHEN THEY AIM BETWEEN THE EYES! HarvDog
Re: One in the pipe.... One in the tube...gotta be ready to go! Most likely there won't be any time to rack a round.
mike
Re: One in the pipe.... my buddy took the concealed weapons course and the told them if you pull it be prepared to use it!! would be hard to pull and use it with an empty chamber! they basically told him if you pull it, it better be a situation where it needs fired
Guest Clay008
Re: One in the pipe.... Now that we all agree that you must carry with one in the pipe. Do you keep your sock drawer gun ready to go or not? I have been contemplating this recently and have decided the best way for me is one in the chamber. Take into account I do not have children or other people living with me. I would think a another safe, secure way to go is one of those mini safes where you punch a code and the door flies open. I think you can install them in the wall and place them in drawers. What do you guys think?
mike
Re: One in the pipe.... never loaded in a drawer with kids in the house! that goes for the ocassional neice or nephew or buddies kids because you forget about it. if its loaded, lock it! just my opinion though. slugshooter
Re: One in the pipe.... Well, I keep my Glock 23 ready to go in my top dresser drawer, but I live by myself, so a child getting into it isn't an issue. I don't have a CCW permit yet, so I don't carry. One of these days I'll get around to getting one, just getting to dangerous to go anywhere these days. I had a 1911 until I sold it because I needed the money, I don't think I would have felt comfortable carrying that though with the hammer back, even with the safety engaged. Strut10
Re: One in the pipe.... I keep my pistol loaded & within arm's reach during the night. During the day, it's either with me or put away from my 2 year old daughter's reach. I don't forget. It's the responsibility that comes with the turf. I put it on the nightstand last thing at night. I pick it up and put it away as I crawl out of bed in the morning.
mike
Re: One in the pipe.... hey strut, not to come off being rude or anything, but do you lock your bedroom door at night, i would be scared the kids could come in in the middle of the night and have the oppurtunity to get ahold of a loaded weapon. buckstew
Re: One in the pipe.... I keep a 1911 cocked and locked on my nightstand. When children enter the picture, I will be investing a gun vault ( Gun Vault ). . A friend of mine has one, It seems to be a good combination of safety and accessability. tedicast
Re: One in the pipe.... One in the tube! Like someone above said, when the time comes that I pull it, I will be ready to use it. Sig 226 with one in the tube in the nightstand too... No kids around whatsoever. If there were, it would be a different story.
bowana
Re: One in the pipe.... I think those are pretty amazing sights.
Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: One in the pipe.... Always carry with one in the chamber. My "sock drawer" gun is a Springfield Armory 12 guage pump with a 16.5 inch barrel. It's loaded with High Brass #6 and yes, I keep a round chambered in it. No kids in my house. Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: One in the pipe.... A shotgun isn't quite as quick handling as a handgun, but with the short barrel, it not's too bad. I also like knowing that I'm not shooting through more than 1 wall with it. Don't want to have a round leave my house and go into the neighbor's bedroom! And last, but not least, There's less chance I'll get excited and miss with the 'ol trench broom!
