Got my new bow yesterday.

Well my new Hoyt 38Ultra showed up yesterday. Took it to the spot shoot last night and got it sighted in. Not many will get this one to hunt with as it is longer than most like at 38" a to a but it will do me fine in a treestand. Heck, I am hunting with an UltraElite now at 41".

Probably the best Hoyt I have shot, including the UltraElite. The new Vectrix cam is a mix between the regular cam.5 and the Spiral cam in speed and smoothness. It is quieter than any other Hoyt I have owned. Can't wait to get it supertuned and see what it will do at 70 yards tommorrow.

Speaking of long draws, I read once where Mathews made Shaq a bow that was near 40" draw.

That can't be right. The calculation to get you close to your exact draw length is total number of inches you are tall divided by 2.5= your draw length.

Shaq's would be a 34.4 so he would be like 34 with a loop or 34.5 without a loop. That is guessing he is around 7'2".

Re: Got my new bow yesterday.

It can be right because your method of draw length is wrong. It is wingspan measurement divided by 2.5, not total height. Height has nothing to do with draw length or I would be shooting a 30"draw, which I can't, just because I am 6'3". My wingspan is relativly short, 71", and I shoot a 28.5, which is perfect. I have measured several people here at the shop are at or over 75" wingspan even though they are shorter than me.

Shaqs wingspan is suppose to be 7.5' which is 90". That is a 36" draw. I have seen instances where the measuring the draw by dividing wingspan by 2.5 is wrong, twice I think. Chest size, hand size and facial features all can throw it off. Plus given that we are talking about Shaq and no doubt he is not an archery expert with out perfect form he could shoot a bow 2 or 3" too long. I see it all the time here at the store. That would give him a 38 or 39" draw.
