Anybody have any 6mm remington experience?

I am currently considering a remington 700 vls in 6mm rem. My best friend shoots a .243 win and i like it quite a bit, so it just seems like the 6mm would be even better to me. One because it has a lil bigger case capacity, and two it has quite a bit longer case neck which is nice for handloading. Anybody that has any experience i would greatly appreciate your input.

P.S. AJ i cant remember if you ever did a write up on it but if you did could you post a link to it for me. Thank you!

my father has a 6mm and i use it all the time. dont know all the scientific stuff about it, but its a remington model 700 he's had since he graduated high school. put a heavy barrel on it. the thing shoots incredible. hes shot yotes and fox with it and does a good job. we take it praire dog hunting for those long shots and its a nice fast gun we shoot those little doggies out to about 400yrds.

Sorry, it was deleted when they purged the old threads.

With factory ammo, the 6mm Rem is identical to the 243 Win. It may beat it by a few fps, but that does not mean anything in the real world. The handloader can get some more speed (~100 fps +-) from the 6mm though.

I have a 6mm Rem Ackley Improved built on a custom Savage 110. I have always liked the 6mm Rem case for the reasons you mentioned. When its pushed out to the Ackley Improved version, it will gain even more.
