Swamphunter
Do new vehicles shipped to dealers there, come with block heaters or not? Just curious.
huntn4bucks
Re: Question for southerner\'s Do you mean an electric blanket??? Nah, they don't come from the dealer that way...we usually get them from Wal-Mart! LOL In all seriousness, I'm pretty sure they don't...at least I've never seen or heard of one coming with block heaters.

texastrophies
Re: Question for southerner\'s I believe some of the diesel's come with some type of heater, I thought it was for the oil, but I guess it may be the same thing. None of the gas vehicles around here come with them.

Ambuscher
Re: Question for southerner\'s Only diesels, but it was 17 when I got up this morning. It's now up to 18 so I'd better go get my chores done.
wtnhunt
Re: Question for southerner\'s You can get em here I think special order. Some diesel trucks may come with them from the factory, but have never seen any on any new gas vehicles here.
OJR
Re: Question for southerner\'s Only the diesels come with them here. I figured all of them would have them but that is not the case!
Shaun_300
Re: Question for southerner\'s the heaters on the diesels are for the glow plugs, they are really buggers to start in any kind of cool whether, so you plug it in and it keeps the engine warm so it will start.... i am an Automotive student in college if you need any questions answered, just PM me.... fisherguy
Re: Question for southerner\'s I don't think they come standard from what i havew seen anyway. I guide a lot of people from illinois, wisconsin, minnesota, etc in teh summer, and with the exception of a few from minnesota most ask why there is a plug hanging out the grill of my truck. The response "block heater" doesn't see to clear it up. I have always taken it for granted that any vehicle would be made without one lol. Swamphunter
Re: Question for southerner\'s [ QUOTE ] What's a block heater? [/ QUOTE ] It is a small plug that replaces a soft plug in your engine block. It is electric and when you plug it in to an outlet, the electricity causes the plug to heat up and in turn heats up the coolant and engine block. This also radiates heat into the oil and the truck or car turns over and starts easier. It gets so cold here that after parking a vehicle for a couple of hours, they turn over very slowly and don't want to start. A block heater helps considerably. If you look at vehicles that have them, either hanging out of the wheel well, or the grill, is a 110 plug looks like the end of an extension cord. People who don't use them usually leave them under the hood and out of sight. OK....do you know the difference between summer blade and winter blades?? billygoat
Re: Question for southerner\'s Block heater??? what do you need one of them for... that's why you have a garage! Seriously, though, I have one on my truck... think I have only needed to use it about a half dozen times.
