Re: Couple more pics from the trapline.........

first off congrats strut, trapping is awsome!!that was my job in school, once I turned 12 and got hy hunters safty I set up a trapline just out of town, woudl walk 3-4 miles a night every night to check my traps, best time I ever had in my life!I stopped trapping once our goverment set up new laws for traps to be offset or padded,I spent a fortune [for a school kid] to buy a couple dozen traps and now some liberal tofu eating peta lovers say we need to pad the traps , i said forget it!I may start up again just waitign to see if the laws change again!

when i first started trapping I used to big of traps and they woudl sometimes break the legs on fox, also i did not have swivels I did have one that chewed his leg off it was the combination of the above 2, another reason i could see just claws is puttign to much cover over the pan and them not gettign the jump they need to catch up on the leg, the animal does not step in the trap far enough and just catches the nails and bottom of the foot, with the pull they have I can see them pulling the nails off with little chewing!

I gave you some info on another one of your posts, too. But, I'd suggest you invest in a good book or video or both to get you headed in the right direction. If I had you for a few hours, I could get you started. But I don't. It takes a bit of doing to get canines to put their feet in your traps. It's not hard. There's just precautions you need to take.
