bbarnhart20
Well, early bow season a buddy gave me a few muzzy's to try and they shot great, i shot one deer with one but spined it so didn't really get a lok at what they can do. Now i got a good deal on montec's and they seem good i'm going to see how they shoot tomorrow. The thing is that i like muzzy's because i normally shoot 75 gr. but the 75 gr. muzzy's seem to be hard to find around here. The montec's are 100 gr. so i got 100 gr. field pts. and sighted them in but can't shoot the actual broadhead till tomorrow. Which does everyone prefer? AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Muzzy\'s or Montec G5 I prefer the Montec myself and for my set-up a heavier grain. I shoot 125's myself and they fly awesome. Muzzy makes great broadheads as well. No matter what you choose, a well placed shot is going to put vension on the table. More often than not, you can't blame the broadhead on poor shot placement. I think 90% of them on the market are great to use, they have to be because the archery world is so competitive. Good luck with those Montecs, you will be impressed!!
Smitteken
Re: Muzzy\'s or Montec G5 The montecs do look sweet. But I've been using muzzys the past 2 seasons and have taken 3 deer. I prefer the chisel point on the muzzys, they are some tough son-of-a-guns. I've said before, muzzys are easy to change the blades on, inexspensive, and available everywhere. But I don't think you can go wrong either way.
wtnhunt
Re: Muzzy\'s or Montec G5 Have never shot the montecs, but the muzzy's do fly great for me with my setup. Using the 3 blade 100 grain muzzy's, they fly as good as any field point. Only killed one deer with the muzzy's so far, but she did bleed pretty well, and got a complete pass through. I honestly have no need to try anything else.
Guest Hunter36
Re: Muzzy\'s or Montec G5 I like the montecs. 1. deer 1. squirrel and 1. grey fox and its still goin strong.
hutchies
Re: Muzzy\'s or Montec G5 I love my Muzzy's. 3 deer so far this year with 2 broadheads. Just replace the blades and spin test. They are good to go again.
need2hunt
Re: Muzzy\'s or Montec G5 My set-up doesn't like muzzy's, don't know why. Even after rechecking my bow to make sure everything is tuned right they just won't group well (for me). I can then take my montec's and drive tacks with it. So personally I prefer the montec's to the Muzzy's. The problem I have had with the montec's is I haven't liked that they aren't that sharp. I tried the G5 Striker this last season and that's probably what I will be shooting next year, shoots the same as the montec's but has the replaceable razor blade like the muzzy's. Guest Finn
Re: Muzzy\'s or Montec G5 I like Muzzy, but Montec have a huge following where guys really like them. I get great flight from 3 Blade 100 Muzzys. I haven't shot montec because Muzzy is nearly half the price and I can't see them performing twice as good
Chrud
Re: Muzzy\'s or Montec G5 I'm shooting Muzzy MX-4's right now. Muzzy's have always shot very good for me. I tried some Preseason Montecs a couple years ago and didn't like the "buzzing" noise they made in flight.
DU_man_84
Re: Muzzy\'s or Montec G5 well u stated that the muzzy's fly great for ya so if they are flying good for ya id keep em, if its hard to find them just be prepared before next season so you can order them from somewhere, personally i shoot 4 blade 100gr, muzzy's always have always will, the fly great for me, they put the meat on the table, and they never fail, but cant wait till next season to start shooting the new muzzy mx-4's, im pumped
craig mack
Re: Muzzy\'s or Montec G5 I like Montec G5's. I shot a doe and a 6 point with the same broadhead. I just resharpened the broadhead and it was good to go. For some reason the muzzys dont fly as well out of my set up.
bowin_in_illinois
Re: Muzzy\'s or Montec G5 theres an old saying... "if it ain't broke...don't fix it." if they are workin good for you...stick with 'em, if not, find one that does. muzzy has worked good for me, and thats why i continue to use them. Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Re: Muzzy\'s or Montec G5 i have never shot the Montec G5's so i can't comment on them...you can't go wrong with muzzys...they have been around a while and have very much proven themselves in the archery world...either one will work, its all about shot placement. the old saying "practice makes perfect" couldn't be more true when it comes to Archery. you have plenty of time until next season to practice with both and decided which one you prefer. Good Luck, and let us know what you decide
WIDeer4Life
Re: Muzzy\'s or Montec G5 Ive shot muzzy 100 grain 3-blades for a couple years now and love them. Have never tried the montecs so I cant really comment on them but all Ive heard is good. If you like the 3-blade muzzys you should maybe give the new MX-3s a try. Im going to shoot them with my set-up and see how they shoot for kicks and giggles and if they dont shoot well ill definately be going back to my 3 blade muzzys. Straight Shooter
Re: Muzzy\'s or Montec G5 I've been using Muzzy's for the last 15 years now and have had grreat success with them. I switched from the 90 grain 4-blade after a couple of years to the 100 grain 3-blade and shot them until 4 years ago. I then went to the 75 grain 3-blade and totally love the way these heads fly and perform on deer. The Montec's are a well contructed heads as well and alot of people use them. I would recommend buying a package of each or trying to getting ahold of a couple of each, then shooting them on your set-up, and see which works best for your set-up. [/ QUOTE ] so many people stick to that and bring their 15 year old bow in to transfer their rests and sights over from that to a brand new bow..its so funny.. anyhow..i think they will both work great for you...i think u shoud avoid aiming for the spine for best results. haha... for me, muzzys this year..montecs next year
JimT
Re: Muzzy\'s or Montec G5 Muzzys and Montecs fly very good and pretty much about the same down my setup. I go with Muzzys because they are a little quieter in flight. Nothing wrong with either really though.
