I shot this pumpkin this evening with my 17. i shot it 3 times from about 40yrds and was amazed with the size of the exit holes, then after the 3 shots i went back to 100yds to shoot it but it didnt go all the way thru so i cut it in half and found the bullet in 2 pieces. i was really amazed with the size of the exit holes from the CCI TNT Hollow Points i used...heres a couple pics... sorry there so big i dont know how to make them smaller

Re: 17 HMR exit holes

I'm liking that 17 HMR more and more, I may end up buying one yet. grin.gif

Shooting pumpkins is a blast, just before deer season we go collect the jack-o-lanterns door to door just after halloween. Fill them up with bags of water and set them out across a swamp at 275-300 yards and blast at them with the rifles, talk about fun. You sure know when you hit them too, looks like you stuck a bomb in them... grin.gifcool.gif

Re: 17 HMR exit holes

Try this! I like to fill empty 1 gal. milk jugs with water and shooting them. Amazing what the shock of a bullet will do. At 100 yds. an '06 will shatter the jug. Not quite so impressive with my .17 but fun [ and cheap ] just the same.

I just had a thought! I'm going to start a post about this! Check it out
