NiteRunner
Curious as to how everyone came into Hunting/Fishing. For Me, It was through my Dad. He hunted and I wanted to give it a go. After I tagged along on some hunts for a couple years, my parents thought it was time for me to pass my Hunters Education and take a gun along. Been 8 years now. SUGARKAHNE
Re: How Did You Get Interested in Hunting/Fishing? As long as I can remember my dad and brothers have hunted. They always seemed to have a lot of fun so I always begged to go. Just can't give up the habit!

Guest TnLadyhunter
Re: How Did You Get Interested in Hunting/Fishing? My family did it growing up but it took my wonderful encouraging husband to get me into bowhinting and then I was determined to do it on my own! I Love to hunt and fishing is fun too. M00N
Re: How Did You Get Interested in Hunting/Fishing? My father always hunted since before I was born. Grew up watching him bring home deer from his hunting trips. Always was an outdoors tomboy that had a passion for animals. Decided when I was 12 that I wanted to hunt. Took the hunter's safety course with my father, his friend, and his friend's nephew who was a year younger than me. Been hunting ever since with my father. Guest BirrDuh
Re: How Did You Get Interested in Hunting/Fishing? well, I grew up in the city, where i still live (unfortunately). The family and my uncle would take weekend trips down to lake okeechobee where my dad's boss has a place. I am the oldest child, and for a while the only. I was raised with 4 heavyweight uncles plus my father, which means that I was raised to burp, spit, and wrestle like a man, and with pride; a pure tomboy.( and you all wonder why I'm single). But I still have my teenage female moments My dad and uncle would take me fishin on the Lake for bass and catfish, and we'd listen to gators singing up a symphony together. Hunting came later. My mom's dad lives in ohio, where he owns wooded acreage next to his home. Him and my uncle had hunted there for decades. Two summers ago My dad and I took the Hunter's safety education course, and that November we all went up there for thanksgiving, and conveniently, in the beginning of huntin season. Thats when I shot my first deer, right through the heart. I've loved everything about it ever since.
wtnhunt
Re: How Did You Get Interested in Hunting/Fishing? Think I am responsible for getting my wife involved in hunting. Hunting behind the house makes it kind of easy. Had her shooting some with my .270, then got her to go a few times. Later on got her a rifle of her own, a savage model 10 in .243, for an anniversary gift. For Christmas, bought her a good parka and bibs and everything she needed to keep warm. Set her up to go during the prime time every year since then, while I do most of my hunting earlier on in the season and then later when the weather is not quite so nice. She got hooked about 3 years ago when she sat with the ml watching one really nice buck chasing two does around her for a good while. Will never forget the excitement on her face as she told me the story when she came through the door. Any guys out there looking to get their wives/girlfriends hooked, set them up in a prime spot during the peak of the pre rut. If that doesnt do it for them, nothing will. Guest Huntergirl
Re: How Did You Get Interested in Hunting/Fishing? I would have to thank my father. I have grown up in the field and I would not change a thing. I even met my other half in a archery store and now we share stories and experinces with one another. Now I will try to pass down the love and passion for the outdoors to my child. My son says he shot his first deer when he was in my tummy. I hope as he grows the passion he has for hunting will stay. BowtechsWife
Re: How Did You Get Interested in Hunting/Fishing? I was born into fishing...both my parents fished. Hunting was a different story...I wasn't around my dad during his hunting seasons, so I wasn't exposed until I married. About 6 years ago I finally went on a pheasant hunt with Steve and loved it. Since I am not a fan of cold weather it took a little longer to get me out at 4:30 a.m. to sit in snow, but I have been known to do so and actually enjoy it. I am looking forward to a spring Turkey hunt...more my weather.
Guest Sass67
Re: How Did You Get Interested in Hunting/Fishing? I grew up doing the tom boy thing, all my siblings were much older than me, I was my Dad's right hand or pain in the rear qtrs, depending on which day you asked. Anyway, I was with him instead of the house. He had about quit hunting by the time I was old enough to go, but I can remember my first turkey hunt, quail hunt, and first coon hunt (We carried kerosene lanterns and flash lites back then). He didn't deer hunt by this time in his life, but my grandpa did. Dad thought I was too radical to pack a gun, but Grandpa couldn't say no, so with some instruction sent me on my own at about 13 or 14. I didn't have a clue, but enjoyed watching the squirrels and hanging out in trees in anticipation. At age 19 I FINALLY killed a little buck with Dads 30-06. My Mother hunts, but that was considered her time, she was gone all day, same tree, I don't recall ever thinking I could sit that still, opening day of rifle season was considered a holiday away for her, a Mom, school teacher, church secretary, ect. Mom and I do hunt together now, she is 80 years old now, and still hunts, climbs trees, we do try to keep her safer stands now because if we don't, she will climb the tree with out the stand, no joke, truth! I continued trying to learn to hunt with my kids, got into archery and black powder, LOVE to white bass fish, still enjoyed coon hunting, rabbit, squirrel, trapping (learned a little about that from Grandpa) all with my children, one son, one daughter. Now I continue this with my Grand Daughter who is age 4 and will with my Grand Son when he can walk. I now love to turkey hunt. My husband got me hooked on turkeys, quail, and pheasant, and I got him in to black powder. (Married 6 years ago) Hunting and fishing lasts most all year for us, we are either hunting or anticipating. My favorites are all the birds, (quail, pheasant, turkey), and archery. I truly believe that children, who grow up in the woods, can find things to do in those teenager critical years, as boredom often leads to wrong paths taken. Oh, my children were/are ornery and so was I but they/we always had something to do. Boredom wasn't allowed in my house.
